i was wondering cause i was thinking about spiking my hair not really long but short spikes just to try it out Yes BLACK peole can spike their hair. I go through constant syles and spiked is my fave. I am a black woman and beleive me when I tell you that black people can do pretty much all the things to their hair was white, asian, hispanic can do with theirs. I called out those ethnic backgrounds because they are known for having fine hair textures. Once you "relax" you black hair you can then spike it. Depending on the natural curl pattern or your hair a relaxer itself might be to much and a simple texturizer might do the trick. If your hair is long well it will be harder to spike. Once it is spiked it can easily fall or loose that definition you are looking for. Spiked hair is better with a short or medium hair length. For best results cut the hair into a spiked style after you relax it. Therefore, you get a better look at what "you" will look like with that hair style determing your length. |

What the f**k do you mean hair like a white person, asian people can get spiked hair too. Exactly, white people aren't the only ones who can spike hair. I will admit that spiking might have originated from white people but damn do white people have to own everything. I guess so look at Bush! |

*For people with relaxed hair* Based on what I've experienced, don't use those gels from the supermarkets...like brands like Ion. If your hair is relaxed, then it would be too heavy for gel to hold from all of the chemicals that were used. Even if you're not going for liberty spikes and you have really short relaxed hair, I doubt the gel wouldn't even hold that long. I've tried it and it doesn't work. My hairdresser told me that as well. Trust me, she does african american hair all the time and she knows what she's talking about. You would have to use wax that's nonalcoholic or else it would just dry out your hair and damage it (if you're the type of person who wants to spike their hair often). Unless you're spiking your hair occasionally then you can use wax, but wash your hair after. I've seen pictures of americans with spiked hair and I'm assuming they used some type of wax, but they were models and obviously that was for an occasion. -Court Black people CANNOT use wax to spike!!! It will weight the hair down not allowing it to spike. Mousse (alcohol free) will be better. ION brand is ok, Paul Mitchell shampoo, mousse, pomemade, hair spray and conditioner is fine. The gel will flake your hair. To stop drying out if you use gels is to wrap it at night with a moisturizer tie it down with a silk scarf. Spike it in the morning or sometime the next day. For gels I would advise something more designed for black people hair types. POINT of the matter is you should get on other forums designed for black people to discuss hair. Nothing is wrong with this forum however if you're a black person no one can advise you better then another black person. Like if you're a white person no one can advise you better than Vidal Sassoon or Paul Mitchel. Why because they are white stylist. Boo, pick up a black hair magazine or hype hair magazine. |

LOL. Ive never see a black person spiked their hair. African people hair are like pubic hair, and very thick and curly. Even if you spiked it, it would like f**ken funny as hell.
