I have braces and I eat everything except bubblegum. Gummy stuff won't - and shouldn't - break your bracket off. If it does then your ortho probably sucks.

eating gummy worms wouldnt break a bracket but it "might" loosen your metal covers on your lower and upper molar (i think that's what you call them).

Exactly ! ohmy.gif i couldnt explain it better.

Well, i stop eating gummy bears now. =]

THANKS EVERYONE.

my cousin hit me in the head with a pillow and i broke a bracket. so thats always been my excuse. i have braces, and as im writing this, im chewing gum. quite frankly, i dont care.

i went to the ortho. the other day, and she pulls out orange peel that was caught in my molar cap-thing, *gross i know* and she yelled at me because she thought it was popcorn.

orthodontists these days...

I've learned that braces aren't as fragile as they say. But who knows.

I used to have braces. _dry.gif lol for too long...i was so happy when i got them off...but anyway,...i dunno, the dentist always told me not to eat the gummy stuff cuz it would get caught and stuff and loosen the wires. But that won't Break your braces. You really shouldn't be eating candy or chewing gum while you have braces...but i mean which kid actually obeys that for 2-4 years? I mean have good judgement with this..try to cut down on the candy you are eating i guess

When i had braces, i only broke my brackets when i ate hard stuff. But i always ate the gummy stuff. I think the only thing you really have to worry about is laffy taffy or salt water taffy.

i've had braces for almost 2 years now,
and my eating habits have only changed
after i've gotten them tightened because
they hurt.
gummy bears never give me a problem.
just chew carefully and swallow. _smile.gif

If it's worth the risk and the consquences, then sure. Enjoy yourself. _smile.gif
If you don't think it's worth the risk, then don't try the gummy fruits.
But gummy fruits are pretty tempting at times when you don't really want it to be.
