it's not sexist. it depends on what the artist wants. if someone wants to paint nude men, then no one would really care. it's just that not many people do/have.

if i'm writing a book and the best point of view i can write in is that of a female so my books are pretty much from a female's pov, am I sexist? no. if i'm an artist and i see a certain beauty in one model but not the other, guess which model i'm going to paint?

There are plenty of nude male subjects in art, I know I've studied a shit load of them. It all depends on the artist's personal opinion of which subject is more in their interest, or they find pleasing to paint. Of course, personally I find the female body more pleasing to the eye, because of the way the curves are placed, and it's a much softer figure. However, I don't mind seeing the chiseled figure of a nude male in a painting once in a while either. Basically, there's no discrimination in art subject matter, because it's like asking "Why would people rather paint flowers than dust bunnies?"

Well said. Sexisism is a function of stereotyping and discrimination. The choice of subject matter is not inherently sexist.

nudes are mostly renassaince. in the renaisance, (sexistly) artists were male. males generally wished to appear to think females are hotter more beautiful.

First of all, many men have been painted nude. In fact, men themselves were sculpted nude. Second of all, when a woman is painted nude, it doesn't mean something about sexism but a meaning of "art". It either meant something about how beautiful a woman is, or how their role in earth and history is important.. it really depends on the artist.

^ that's true. it's been proven in studies that people prefer female bodies more (not that male bodies aren't beautiful in their way) because of the well rounded proportions. i mean, if you think about it, a woman has all her privates bascially covered up while a man has his penis just hanging there.

its not sexist, womens bodies are considered beautiful and graceful.
and mens are well... not lol. it is wired how its like taboo though, to show a naked man. im talking about how we see naked women all the time in some R movies but u practically NEVER see a naked man. but hey im not complaining maybe cause attractive girls usually have nice bodies also in the movie industry. but attrctive men may be attractive but might have a small winkerdoodles haha, i dunno

i think women nude are more beautiful nude, now im not saying just because they are women, but women are more curvier then men, they are more beauitfully structured. they are vulupcious, and i am saying this from an artistic point of view, not purverted.


but i have seen alot of muscular men painted nude, but not showning their penises.

I'd have to agree with you on that as well. But there are some parts of the male body I do like to see. (;

The female body is seen as a work of art. The male body really isn't. There are nude paintings of men, but I actually see more nude men in sculptures than woman. It's just what the artist sees as beautiful.

yeah exactly. Besides, I've seen a lot of nudes with men before. But overall they just arent as pretty. Females have loads and loads of curves. Soft round shapes are naturally more appealing.

people who paint nude men should automatically be elligible for a grant from the government to subsidise thier art, this way, a 50/50 balance can be achived, and diversity is wanted by all.
