i was thinking about getting a tattoo <without my parents knowledge of course>. i saw an orante one around some guy's forearms - i dont know the name of it though. just thought i'd go here before i do anything. http://www.relache.com/body_art/devito/devito_forearm.gif something like that, only horizontal and .. yeah.


Do you have one/ want one? if you have one, do they hurt?

it hurts.atleast thats wat my dad says.i went with him to get his and it was like a 1000 needles ppoking through ur skin.besides, ur skin gets all wrinkly on that spot wen u grow up

I would like to clarify some things that have been said in replies to this topic, as many of them are simply just not true.

one : it's not as painful as everyone seems to think it is. its more just annoying. it feels similar to cat scratches, everyone i talk to says the same.

yes, some area's are more painful than others, but its nothing you can't handle.

two : these "six month tattoos" dont always work. there have been reported cases of them being just as permanent as real tattoos. the only way for a tattoo to be temporary, is if you use henna, or those cheap kiddie ones.

with the "6 month tattoo" they're basing that on how deep the ink is injected. but there is no possible way to ensure that each time the needle enters the skin, that it doesnt go into the dermis. they call it the "6 month tattoo", because if they're successfull in keeping it VERY shallow, it will fade away as your skin cells die and regenerate.

please keep in mind, even if it IS successful, and no ink is injected deep enough to be permanent, that your tattoo will look gross, and unevenly faded as time goes by.

(the above information also applies to the '10 year tattoo')

three : having a tattoo over your spine DOES NOT, i repeat, DOES NOT mean that you cant have an epidural. for those of you who dont know, an epidural is a method of numbing the lower body so you dont feel the pain while giving birth. it includes needles into your back/spinal area.

the tattoo ink is set into the skin. and a needle passing through it will not carry the ink into your spinal area.

doctors are not tattoo artists, nor do they know much about the inks used, because they dont need to use them. a lot of doctors will choose not to do an epidural if a tattoo is "in the way" because they believe it will cause problems [or are unsure]. but that does not mean it shouldnt be done.

four : the bible does not forbid tattoos. Jesus was a modified man. it would be hypocritical for the bible to say that tattoos are forbidden. and part of following God/Jesus is to try to be as much like him as *humanly* possible.

I was christian, but i decided to remove religion from my life for personal reasons. I am quite familiar with the "terms" on tattooing and other body modifications according to the bible.

five : the "6 month tattoo" is NOT the same as henna.

henna is [usually] a natural dye applied ON TOP of the skin. if a NEEDLE is used, it's being injected into the skin.

and a needle is used for the '6 month tattoo'. a needle is NOT used for henna.








and thats really all i have to say. if you disagree with anything i've said here, dont bother telling me, because the FACTS above are not a matter of opinion [which is where agreement/disagreement comes into play], but are a matter of fact vs. fiction. and all of the information above is FACT.

I have three tattoos: One large on my lower back side/ upper ass area ( yes!!!!!!! And I´m proud on it!!!!!!!). Two smaller on my shoulders (one on each side). I will defenitly never regret it. More of this: I´m thinking for more tattoos, for the first especially on my backside. I want to handle it on a way that my whole backside is filled with tattoos and no "empty room" is left over. And I fear that will not be the end - if you ever have started to love it you can´t find an end until no skin is left over. You will even start to love the pain of getting a tattoo (and it was all three times a very harsh pain!).
My boyfriends really doesn´t like this. He want to "save" me. But in this special case I don´t care about him.
