Honey, this is the debate forum. It's tough. And really, you can't just say something and expect someone to take it seriously can you? Think about it.

Michael- My parents are engineers and they know quite a lot about politics -shrugs-
No ones saying you're pretending, but really, you'd be good at it. You're older than most of us here...

Who's taking college reading courses?

Oh, I've read about politics and philosophy and non-CS issues, of course; I actually switched majors from political science to computer science after my freshman year, namely because I like doing integrals more than I like listening to people argue about political issues (and that's really saying something).

I engage in a few debates, but I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about political issues as I could and should be to debate them. I've also found I'm not terribly interested in politics, anyway. I once wanted a career in politics, but I then I realized that those in politics spend most of their time arguing, and never really get things done, anyway. Other areas are where it's possible to actually make changes. I actually thought about switching to philosophy before going to CS, but then I realized that philosophy just deals with theories and hypothetical situations that don't translate well to reality; I have an interest in dealing with reality, not a theoretical world.

So, yes, sometimes I can debate something fairly well, but many issues here are not of particular interest to me, and I've reached a point where I can admit that I have a limited area of expertise where I really know my stuff. Sure, when I was in high school, I tried to be some intellectual know-it-all who would debate anything, anywhere, anytime, but I've grown older and wiser, and know that I look a lot smarter when I stick to what I know wink.gif (which, truth be told, isn't really a lot).

My god. That was really long.

CS= computer science i'm assuming..

Ah. All politicians do is argue anyways. Like here in texas they've spent like forever trying to do some bill, and all they say on the news is, just another day or arguing..

^ Exactly. His decision. She should have locked him up in an old moldy basement so he wouldn't go, but SHE LET HIM GO.

And she's demanding to meet with Bush Again. She already met with him once...

When? A news article this morning notes that he has not met with her yet.

She met with some White House officials, but I was under the impression that Bush had not met with her.

I guess she did meet with him, but he didn't know what her name was lol. Also, the meeting with Bush is at the bottom of the website.
QUOTE
BuzzFlash: What would you say to President Bush if you could sit down in the same room and speak to him directly?

Cindy Sheehan: I actually got to meet face to face with the president. He called me "Mom"because he didn’t know my name, and he didn’t know my son’s name -- he just knows that he’s meeting with these families that have lost loved ones. He said, "Mom, I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through."

I said, "I think you can imagine it a little bit, Mr. President. You have daughters. How would you feel if one of them was killed?"

I told him, "Trust me, Mr. President –- you don’t want to go there."

He said, "You’re right. I don’t."

Ha I just read that..

Alright I just watched her 'video'.

http://www.meetwithcindy.org/movie2.htm [it's quicktime...]

She claims that Bush Lied to us, the country, about the WMD's [wow..here we go AGAIN] She wants Bush to be 'honest' to us, and since he isn't being honest her son died. He said that her son died for a noble cause, and she's wondering what cause. She wants to tell Bush F2F [face to face] how much it hurts...i'm assuming she means her son.

There. I tried to make it sound unbiased as much as possible.

She needs to move on, really she does. I'm sure loosing her son hurts, but in reality is was HIS CHOICE.

SO WHAT BUSH DIDNT KNOW HER NAME?! THERE ARE [enter large number here] OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. SERIOUSLY.
