Frankly because he wouldn't let me out of the house.

one time at band camp (oh shut up) everyone in my hall was gone, so i wandered down the other way and found everyone in someone's room discussing their fathers' responces to bringing guys home, but it was such bullshit because i know for a fact a lot of people in there have never gone out with anyone

Anyway, yes, they do. It's most responsible to tell them what's going on in your social lives. Otherwise you'll be having a burden of a secret on you all the time. I always communicate with my parents. If you're not telling them about your relationships, maybe you're not at the age or ready to have a bf or gf..

I try not to let my mom know cause once anything goes wrong - ie my grades start falling a little - I know she's soo going to be blaming it on him and stressing that I shouldn't have one until college and yadeeyah. =p

wow! ur lucky ur parents are like that. my parents are selfish. well...not selfish selfish. just selfish wen it comes to me. yano? like they don't want to share me to another person but themselves. id die if they found out im with a guy coz they'd kill me. even talking or hanging with a dude is prohibited. HANGING OUT even with friends is prohibited, thats y i don't hang out much. im like a friggin prisoner! i hate it! but- i do understand their concerns...but they're tackling the issue all wrong.

OH HELL NO! My parents are the last people who would ever say yes for me to have a bf. They are soooo... idk about my dad i think he'd tease me about it cuz i always used to say when i was little "i'm not going to fall in love and i;m never gonna get married" my mom on the other hand would hands down say no to bfs. shes way too grade crazy and she would think i would just fool around and not study and get bad grades which she already bugs me about B;s... My mom said her first bf was when she was 21 and it was my dad... so really not a good idea.. i;'d sneak it behind their backs

My parents [I don't think] didn't know about my ex. I'm pretty sure they had an idea, but they like had like no confirmation of it. So yeah.. I guess you could say I got away with it. My relationship with him was like around 2 years so I think they pretty much got used to it.

My mom knows about the guy that I have a crush on right now. I'm not sure if she had forgotten or anything, but she can never keep a secret. I think she told my dad and when me and him went to the movies yesterday, my dad was all like, 'Oh who are you going with, huh? A boyfriend or a girlfriend?' and I just sat there and stared at him. =P hehe..

If we do end up going out though, I don't plan on telling my parents. I might, but I'll have like this doubt in my head about what they'll make me do and not do. He's a really good kid though so I don't know. I probably won't though. =P LoL..

that kinda sounds like my mom, just a little bit. If i come home from hanging out with friends or a dance or something. She'll be like 'what happened? who were you with? what were they wearing? what did you do?' its so annoying.

When I did have a boyfriend, I was behind their backs.
I'm too afraid to tell/ask about it; there is a 50% chance that they will not allow it and a 50% chance they would. I'd rather not take the chance.

I kind-of thought that they had a sense of me having a boyfriend when I did.
