your parent's native language, did they ever teach you?

Yea my parents came from Ukraine/ used to be part of Russia. And they taught me Russian. I'm really glad that they did happy.gif

my family is from the same place i was born, but my mom knows spanish and does my spanish homework for me :]

yes, my parents spoke to me mostly in cantonese when i was young so yea. they also taught me a bit of english before i started school. i was in bilingal (sp?) classes until 4th grade so it kinda stuck, but now i have this accent >.<

my mom always spoke to me with a mix of tagalog & english & i take tagalog classes @ school so i know how to speak it almost fluently, but my dad barely spoke spanish to me so i dont know that much.

My father's native language is Krioulu, but he didn't teach me because growing up he forgot a lot because it was considered shameful.

well...my parents native languages are canto and mando and i spoke better canto wen i was 4 than i do now

took 5 years of mando school

learned to say hi my name is blah blah blah

but i cant believe i quit i wish i kept taking it

so now i kinda speak a....chinglish

half chinese half english cz i cant speak chinese properly

lessee...my mom is born in cambodia which makes cambodian..but thats not my moms native lang. shes chinese...(canton/mandarin/chiuchow[thats canton! its actually diojiu Oo;]) so i understand a BIT of canton (i uno how..lol) i took mandarin classes for 6 years but still dont understand and i can speak my chiu chow lang. =) my mom and dad taught me to speak chiuchow . well to speak at least.
now my DAD he was born in cambodia too...hes part cambodian but he can speak it to. but her never taught me. he can speak chiu chow but not canton or mand.
hah thats my story. =)

lol thats like me. i took mand for so long and i wish i never wuit. so regretful!! i felt like crying after i thought about it

haha i know canto, a bit, its crappy though haha i always mispronounced stuff but my bf finds it cute so tongue.gif haha~~ and i cant say some words at all.

o yea i took like 5 years of manderin, but i like know how to say like....3 phrases (i want to eat) (i dont know/understand) (i want ____) haha yea...

Errr, Thai was my first language, but then I stopped using it when I entered Kindergarten...Now I suck at Thai, but I want to learn more. I can read it more than I can speak it. rolleyes.gif I don't like Thai school, it's madd boring.

I'd like to learn Lao, my mom's famly can speak it. mellow.gif

yeah.. english was my first language.. but as i got older.. i wanted to learn greek seeing as how my dad was from greece and that stuff. So i went into Greek school. We don't speak it much around the house.. just me and my dad.. or when we ever go to greece i use it

my parents native language is mando but they also speak some kind of taiwanese that they don't teach because it's used when they don't want me + my siblings to understand.

Yes they did. They're from Canton (Guangzhou) and they taught me Cantonese. They know how to speak Mandarin though.. I wish they'd taught me that too.
