Well, this question popped in my head.

How do actors/actresses cry? Do they have to try, or like what?

I was just wondering, but I was watching this really sad scene in this movie, and that girl was crying, and yeah, it looked like real tears. So, do you know how they do it?

i remember watching a long time ago; a video about how britney spears made her "lucky" video. she was crying in one of the scenes. they made it look like tears where coming down&made her mascara runny; and she just had to look really sad or something.

i guess they are either really good actors or people put water or something on them; and they just have to scrunch up their faces&look miserable.

I used to be good at crying, but I don't know anymore lol. I just think that it's the end of the world and I have these worry thoughts all over me that makes me give that shaky moment. but it doesnt work anymore -_-;;

They train you to do it when you're doing a sad movie if you don't know how to do it already. I've tried it its easier to cry when you make the face cause usually you squit your eyes a little more and that makes the tears easier to fall I've been trying to practice that featured cause I'm gonna try to be a child actress, but other than that you really have to feel the situation in the movie. Your mom just died -squints face-

They probably practice so much that they can do it on command. Like some people can vomit on command, they dont have to stick nothing down their throat, so maybe they can just cry on purpose.

^ I don't think they would hire actors/actresses who cant cry for the role in the movie. And if they do have to computerize it, thats just really sad

Some really cry, for instance they think of something that makes them want to cry. Or they just use eye drops or something. Most of it's fake, I'm pretty sure.

As everyone stated above, it's probably coz they think of something very upsetting... I always TRY to fake cry, but end up laughing, or yawning >_O

I'm in theatre at school and the teacher says that the key is to think about something that makes you cry. I can't really cry all that good though, just maybe 2 tears and thats all.

When they are cued to cry. They just cry. Its not that hard.. I can cry whenever I want to.. I find it verrry useful. haha

i can never cry without emotion.

i have to think of something really sad to cry on cue...or if the other person in the movie is a really good actor/actress, i can work off that and cry because of all the drama my character is going through.

whenever you REALLY get into the scene and you are a really good actor/ess, you can probably make yourself do whatever the character is feeling.

Yeah, they think of something sad that would make them cry...that's what i do. Even in America's next Top Model show...they had to do acting so the acting coach gave them a blank paper and they had to pretnd it was letter that would make them cry, so they had to think about sad thoughts..and they cried. Yeah...
