This might be long, but please help anyways.
Okay, well I'm vietnamese (this isn't my account, I am on here to ask some webdesign questions, this isn't emily, this is her friend). Anyways, I've always been fascinated by the korean culture. This is how it just starts out, since I was little, I have been watching those korean shows that are translated to viet. I just adore all the people, especially the guys, well, some of them. Well, okay. My family is kind of screwed up, and my dream career was to become a korean singer or something. Now, that is just a dream, and you're probably cracking up right now. Anyways, here is the thing, even though I'm far far far away from being an adult, I always think about it. Okay...Well, I don't know, my parents tell me I can be whatever I want when I grow up. I've always lied to them telling them I wanted to be a teacher, and all of my family memebers are always pressuring me about school, it just gets annoying. Here is the thing, I truly want to learn korean, but I don't have many asian friends, and their not korean. I told my oldest sister about this, how I wanted to become a korean singer or something, and she was like, "OMG!! ARE YOU FORGETTING THAT YOU ARE VIET!!! NOT KOREAN!!!" Do you think this is bad? I don't want to tell my parents how I really feel, seeing how my sister re-acts, I'm kind of scared to tell my parents. My parents and I don't talk, and when I say, "we don't talk", we seriously don't talk. They are the kind of parents that don't understand much about kids these days. Yes, I know this is silly of me. My sisters always tell me that I have a great singing voice, but I need to improve on some things. I've always wanted to take some sort of dance class, but I never tell my parents this, because they are always so busy dealing with other stuff, they just don't have time for all of the stuff I want to do. I also always wanted to learn korean. So...why am I telling you all of this? Do you think I'm stupid for wanting to be a foreign language singer? Does it seem like I'm betraying my country? Yes...I should just let some things flow. Just give any kind of advice you want. |

errr and why is this in "relatinships" ?
anyways i don't think anything is wrong with that sweety... may be you are a bit too excited about this whole thing and other might not understand how you feel (eg ur sista) sounds like you are still quite young.. and at this point you have yet to learn the language let alone be a singer in that feild... so my suggestion to you is to TALK (yes talk to them i am sure they'll listen) to your parents and say you are interested in learning a forgien language.. like korean... and keep it simple and straight fwd.. don't jump to the beng singer part quite yet you should also talk to them about taking dance lessons.. i was used to be like you for the most part of my teenage life.. i wasnt used to bother talking to them since we never talked... and i figured they are too busy in their stuff to talk to me... but when i did i found out that they really do listen.. (not all the times though but they do)... so u gotta find it in u to give it a go and have a talk with them your first step in being a korean singer would be to learn that language.. so start off with taking korean language classes or something |

go for it, there are plenty of singers out there who sing in different languages.
kelis sang some spanish song before, and nelly furtado can sing in a lot of different languages. you seem to love the korean cuture and if this is your passion, then just go for it, it doesn't matter if you're not korean. |

first off, can you even sing? that's nice that you want to be a korean singer and all but shouldn't you have some kind of back plan? in case things don't work out? because if you spend all your life in this dream world of yours and when it does come crashing down, you'll be lost. kids often dream about things that usually like this but again, it's just a dream. i'm not trying to bring you down but the real world is much harsher and seeing as how you said you are very far from being an adult as in you must be very young, you might change your mind as you grow older.

i dont see anything wrong with that. theres a japanese pop star thats a chinese movie star.so why cant there be a viet female be a korean singer? if they dont let you learn it now, then work on improving your voice. then in college, you can choose to learn korean.
