I'm wondering when that version comes out? Does anyone have it right now?

Internet Explorer 7's release is planned to coincide with Windows Vista's; however, a "testing" version will be available for Windows XP SP2 "by the summer of 2005", which in Microsoft parlance could mean anytime between now and ten years from now.

I think it will require at least XP SP2, and could possibly even require Vista, although the release version will probably be available for XP SP2.

Well, you never know--Vista is how many years behind schedule now? _smile.gif

Ten years is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's looking less and less likely that MS will hit the "summer 2005" deadline for IE 7.

I do not plan on using IE7 since they still won't comply to standards with it. I hope everyone here joins me too.

you forgot to mention it also won't be open source.

i wish software designers would switch to designing for firefox. well, the more people who use firefox, the more designers following standards i guess.

undoubtably microsoft will make it nessisary to have IE 7 to use windows update.

figuring out how to get linux on my laptop is looking better with every "step forward" microsoft makes.

oh, shit. i just realized- i'll be getting a new computer in 2 years and if i'm unlucky i'll get stuck with vista

ewwww.

i hate beta testing for microsoft. it doesn't even pay well. -500 bucks really sucks to be a beta tester.

sheesh. i wish there were a computer company that would sell computers with linux on them, or set up as a dual boot system. even if it were 100 more expensive for a linux dual boot system- i'd buy it.

2+2=5
i love big brother

bah.

internet explorer will never be a good browser. They whole thing app is just bad to the core.

IE 7 is supposed to be better, but I doubt it. PLUS if it is only released with Vista, we'll never see it, seeing as Vista will probably be pushed back again and again as they try to re-add the copy-cat Mac features they scraped to save time.

Maybe they should try Windows Wasteland? I mean... vista...windows...no...not ever.

One good thing about IE 7 is that (I think) it's supposed to have full or almost full support for several key W3C standards, including CSS 1 and 2 (and 3, when it is fully released).

^

the tabbed browsing is what drew me to firefox.

the extenstions are what kept me there.

i doubt IE7 will have extensions, therefore IE 7 will suck.

Thats one of the BIG deals with IE7, it will offer massive ammounts of extenstions. Try the beta out.

Yes, Microsoft has called on many small companys to ptogram there. Plus programers themself can make them if they wan't. The extension site is not even updated and ran by Microsoft. They have like 5 or 6 for IE7 beta. I won't be usen it anytime soon, even if it comen with Vista. IE7 is sh*t....

Quicktime is almost as useless as IE itself.
