I guess a decent one is ok. But I have some really cute clothes that I can't wear to school because of that >.<
My schools stupid when it comes to dress code, they tried to ban PINK last year. Because it could be a gang symbol? o_0 |

liek the dress code helps you focus more in school than guys looking at girls skirts
but we also should wear whatever we want b/c it represents who we are |

this is the dress code that they're going to have at our school next year:
The shirts can have collars or no collars, buttons or no buttons, short or long sleeves with logos no larger that 2 square inches. Shirts may remained untucked, however, they may not be longer that thumb-length when the student is standing up straight. The six approved colors for next year are: red, white, black, navy blue, gray, and/or pink. THESE ARE THE ONLY COLORS THAT STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO WEAR. isnt that total BS. |

well at least you DO have a variety of tops
![]() think of other dress codes where you don't have a choice. anyways, this should be called a UNIFORM not a dress code. our school has a dress code anyways. girls aren't allowed to show midriff, can't wear spaghetti straps, tube tops, halters, one shoulder tops unless they have a jacket on at all times. we are not allowed to show our back. guys are not allowed to sag their pants. and we're all not allowed to wear flip flops. the only part of this our school follows is the "spaghetti strap, tube tops, etc." part. |

Depends on the dress code. We have some silly rules in ours like you must wear a belt if you have belt loops in your pants. XD For the most part though, I wish the dress code was enforced better, because I personally don't like seeing people's body parts hanging out when I am trying to do schoolwork. :P

Umm no, and yes. Because I hate seeing peoples skin that is not needed to be shown. And I hate how some people get away with things at my school and it is not fair, like showing shoulders. Yes because then no one who is very skin-showy would come to school in a mini and a tube, that shows half their stomach.

I believe that there definitely should be a dress code in schools and in workplaces. Clothing can be distracting, and that's the last thing you want when you're trying to accomplish something.
But, on the other hand, I don't think it should be so over-the-top that they're controlling your sense of "style" completely. |

It doesn't matter much to me at times.
But sometimes it just PISSES me off about tucking in our freaking uniform shirts into our uniform skirts... & shoe color rule, my gosh. Also, no shorts PERIOD on free dress days, WTF is that?! AND I CAN'T KEEP MY HAIR COLOR!! ![]() |

I remember back in middle school they did this thing where the vice principal walked around with a ruler in the mornings and measured how short girl's shorts were.

It's good because it keeps people looking decent, and upkeeps an overall sense of decency in the school (aka. not all the popular girls are dressed like prostitutes). Also, it helps keep gang rivalry to a minimum. The banning bandana thing isn't that big of a deal, because it really does affect a lot of people. However, it shouldn't restrict a person's sense of style or individuality. If we wanted that, we'd just all go to uniformed schools.

yeah, i don't like dress codes. my last school had one and no one ever followed it because you had the option of getting your parents to write a letter telling the principal to let you not have to wear it. i was literally like one out of the 50 kids that were still in dress code. i was embarrassed.

i don't really care about our school's dress code. now that i'm in highschool they don't have a strict dress code. last year, in junior high, we weren't allowed to wear ANYTHING. no flip flops, no short skirts/shorts, no low cut shirts, not even spaghetti straps! thank god i'm out of that school.

Our dress code is having to wear uniforms...black and white and darn navy blue uniforms, so obviously i hate it. Gosh. I absolutely hate it. Talk about feeling dirty after PE.
- shirts have to be tucked in - no flip flops - no skirts higher than knees - no hoodies - Colors: NAVY BLUE/BLACK and WHITE - White Shirts/Blouses with a collar. - Navy Blue/Black Pants, Shorts, or Skirts - Coats/Jackets/Sweaters/Sweatshirts/ are to be one of the colors above. I despise my school. ![]() |
