A few of our members have expressed interest in this feature (view here) so as of today, it's been added in. However, some of our members have also expressed their discontentment with this new feature saying that it's a bit "stalkerish".

If you still don't know what I'm talking about, scroll down to the bottom of topic and forum pages and notice that now it tells you which members are viewing that page.

So it's up to you guys. Keep or remove?

the browsing features reminded me of another site, (blogring i think), which is pretty cool, so we can see who is actually active in the forums

tin foil hats made with points are useless.

the points attract attention, as well as a focusing spot for the GODS (geostationary orbiting detection satillites)

a hat lined with metalic foil is the best way.

IPs are like phone numbers on the internet. The wrong person gets a hold of it and your harddrive is gone.

I like that this feature was added.

I also don't see how it's being "stalkerish."
Grow up and realize that it's nowhere near being stalker-like.

Besides, your username name is available on the main page for all to see.. and in whatever thread you post in.. So showing what thread you're currently reading/posting to should make no difference. It's just one more thing to whine about, when it's not even that big of a deal.

Not completely.

IP's are more like house addresses (in fact, they are an address for your computer). Even if I know your house address, it's not a certainty that I can break into your house and steal all your stuff.

Besides, most people's IP addresses change on a fairly regular basis. This is because most people have dialup (which assigns a new IP address every time you connect), or dynamically-address cable or DSL (which gives you a new IP fairly often as well). Most people do not have a static IP; on the other hand, most businesses and large organizations do, but they've probably taken steps to secure their systems in that case.

It seems like you're causing more trouble about this than the feature itself.

Hey, Roxanne--is there any chance that you could/would modify the code so that the function that actually gets or displays the user data really is called big_brother_is_watching();. 'Cause that'd be sweet.

^ read 1984.

anyways, i've managed to convince my parents cB is a harmless site where there's no possiblitiy of me meeting strangers.

a list of the people reading the topic at the bottom doens't much help my case.

so; goodbye cB.

--------------------

(thanks jordan)(ok jordan made the good part then i tacked on the bad part.)

you didn't really think i'd leave cB over something so trivial, did you? i'm leaving because school's starting.
