same goes with me, restroom is for the more polite way when you go to places, and bathroom...well, it's just bathroom (maybe because a restroom doesn't have a shower mellow.gif)

bit of history lesson here.....

yes a man by the name of john t. pisser was credited for what we now know as the toilet, but there was another man who was also. his name was john crapper. one man developed a shute system under the bowl that when you poured a bucket of water down it, it would take the waste and run it away from the outhouse (the system was worked off of gravity, a sloped shute). the other man cam up with the idea of having a tank of water above the toilet, that way you wouldnt have to get a bucket of water everytime.

i say bathroom whistling.gif. but when i lived in pennsylvania everyone said lavatory. is it like a state thing or something?

Well, that's weird. I live in Pennsylvania and never heard anybody say lavatory. I just say bathroom or to be polite I say restroom.

I say bathroom. Restroom when you want to be classy. The powder room if you want to be in a different time period other than now.

I think Southerns call it "the john", but I don't know for sure.

And you could call it the "little girls or boys room" when you want to be taken seriously.
