Yeah, couldn't think of any creative choices for the poll, but do you think it matters to type correctly online? Personally, I think it does because it seems like the people who don't 'tipe lyk dis' are a lot more .. logical than the ones that do type that way. What do you think?

I think as long as it's understandable, I can accept that.
Although typing grammatically correct would give others an impression that you are not an idiot of some sort.

yeah, but a lot of people...(most people especially on cB) are too obsessed with how other people write. get over it and get over yourself. all because someone abbreviates "you" as "u" or "this" as "dis", doesn't mean that you're a perfect english student and the other person isnt. move on with your life and stop whining.

I think as long as u are easily understood, how u type is not that important. I do, however, think that when u have to stop and decipher what people are saying, that you need to cut back on the misspelling of things. But for me, and "u" instead of you everyonce in a while never hurt anyone.

i think that typing correctly gives people the impression that you're intelligent, but it doesn't really matter to me as long as it's readable.

You people are hilarious! Why does it matter how other people type. Its none of your business and I dont think you should worry about it.

Why do u find it neccessary to worry about how people type.

Gramatical errors make me twitch. Someone on this show that James is watching said "bragging rights is braggig rights" and I demanded him to turn it off before the guy decided to speak again

So I know this is an old topic, but I've been seeing more and more xamples of that MORONIC way of typing, so I decided to vent a bit...in here.

Okay, I know there are people out there with less-than-perfect grammar and spelling, and I can deal with that, but when you so blatantly type with the most obnoxious spelling/grammatical errors on purpose, it truly does reflect badly on you.

I know for certain that when I see someone doing that, it totally turns me off to them. I'd rather not talk to anyone who's going to message me with something that I'll have to decode to understand.

I wish this would stop. I know that my little rant isn't going to stop it, but now my opinion is out there for everyone to see.

Yay me, and yes, I know, I'm not queen of the freakin' world.

yes it does. unless it's words like "u" instead of "you" then it's fine. but if people type in a way that it's unreadable, then that's definately a problem. anyway, it's easier for the person who's reading what you're typing when you type correctly.

I hate it when people type like that. It's annoying and I don't understand it sometimes. Though, it's okay. As long they can explain in English what it really means after.

Yehh. I think literacy matters online and offline, because if you get too used to the way you type 'LyK DiS' online, then it might apply offline.
It also gets pretty annoying. stubborn.gif

Yes it does, but only to a certain extent. I'm not going to think any less of a person because they don't capitalize the word 'I' or spell 'you', 'u'. However, using sticky caps and that kind of stuff would probably lower my image of you a little.
