Add Link to Comment Line? Options

I want to know if it is possible to add a link on the comment line. So where it normally says (for example):

7:00 PM - add eprops - add comments - email it

Is there a script (or can one be made) where I can add a link to that line. My goal is to make it say:

7:00 PM - add eprops (users) - add comments (users) - add comments (guests) - email it

Where "add comments (guests)" would be a link to a Haloscan account. (Just a note: I know how to change the other two.) I used to use JaysScripts for guest comments but they haven't worked for a while and was wondering maybe if I could get this to work somehow. Anyone have any ideas?

For Haloscan you have to post one of the javascript codes in the header, and I guess unless you had premium, I don't think you could edit it into your header? I'm not sure, I guess it's worth a try.

Sticking in the "add comments (guests)" part would be pretty easy...just use the link replacement code. But even if Halascan did work on xanga you wouldn't be able to change the names for each new comment page. You'd have to use one for all of them and all of your comments would be on one page.

Well I do have premium, so I could enter the code there. Whether or not Xanga would allow it I didn't consider or try out yet.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you I don't think this is the case. It's true that I'd want to replace the eprop and comment code with other names, but in the case of "add comments (guest)" I'm not merely replacing a link, I'm adding a link that wasn't there before. I don't know how to do that.

But you have given me a lot to think about, mostly whether Haloscan will work with Xanga at all. Another question (which might be better suited for another post): how would you suggest I go about letting guests comment on my Xanga?

Hmm, let me explain things a little more. You have a Haloscan account right? Maybe it'd help more if you had the page open:

1> http://haloscan.com/
2> Instructions/Code
3> None of the Above/Manual, click Next

So now you're at the manual code page.

Step ones requires you to put it in your header. If it's possible to edit the header in your xanga then we have that done.

What I mean when I say using the Link Replacement Code (Click Here), I mean you could replace the old comment and add the old comment AND the new comment link. See what I'm saying? Well, I hope so. But you're right, I'm not sure if the Link Replacement Code allows HTML. That's something else to try out. If it doesn't work out, you'll have to find another link replacement script that allows HTML.

[edit] Not only would the Haloscan comment link not change, your original xanga comment link won't be correct either because every link is different for each entry. Bah. So scratch out the Link Replacement Code. Maybe you can EDIT the xanga skin yourself to make it work, but I can't help you there as I don't have premium.[/edit]

If you used the Link Replacement Code (and if it worked) you would only have one name on ALL of the comments. Therefore all of your guest's comments will be on one page whether it's tomorrow's entry or last year's entry.

.... But.... If it was manual anyway, I don't see why it wouldn't be easier to just add a link to the bottom of every entry. As in, in the actual posts. That way, you'd have a link for all of the entries and if you ever decided to cancel premium, it'd still work.

Ah, that makes sense. I didn't think of that because I didn't like the idea of manually adding a link every time. It won't look that purdy anyway. Lol, maybe I'm just picky?

Okay, so once again the most obvious course of action is the one that I try last. And I do see the problem of having a link on the bottom line now. However, I did not have any luck when adding Haloscan to each individual Xanga post. I put the script in the header. I put the link code at the bottom of a post. But the best I could get was a broken link. I feel like I could be missing something, something obvious. But for the life of me I can't tell what it is.

I know that in the past when I've tried to use some scripts something about Xanga has prevented me from using them. Maybe this is just another one of those cases.

I buy premium in yearly increments, so I'll have it through February of next year.

It's looking to me now like Haloscan is not the answer (again, unless I'm making a mistake somewhere). If anyone has any ideas (short of a different blog provider) to allow me to have guest comments on Xanga those ideas would be appreciated. Thank you for your help so far.

..... Can you edit the head section (<head></head>) of your Xanga? Premium seems to have that godly power. Oh wait... Xanga isn't currently supported by Haloscan.

He said he put the code in the header and he did say he was able to edit the header since he's got premium, so I assumed that was the same thing as the <head></head>. I wish we all had premium! But xanga has to make money somehow. I'm thinking of buying lifetime premium for my friend's very late birthday (split up with my other friends of course).

You could try different commenting systems; I'm not sure how well that would work though. Hmm, maybe you can use a javascript encoder to make the commenting code work? Here's one if you need one:
