Man recites pi from memory to 83,431 places

alright so it hasn't been proven (my apologies), but they haven't found a pattern yet. so i don't really know what you're saying, but memorizing those digits is indeed, hard work. so if there is a pattern, nobody has discovered it yet, so the memorization of pi is currently straight out memorization.

The reason it hasn't been proven is because it is infinite. And if it were to be in pattern, then someone can memorize all digits of pi.

Okay, if the guy can memorize pi's to 83,431 places, that is way less that the length of pi that has been figured out. I'm assuming that when mathematicians wrote out pi to 1.24 trillion decimal places, they would've tried using a supercomputer to find a pattern. They wouldn't have found one; that's why mathematicians believe pi has no pattern.

Since the guy memorizes it to a mere 83000 places compared to 1.24 trillion decimal places, and when mathematicians couldn't find a pattern in pi to 1.24 trillian places, don't you think there wouldn't be a pattern for 83000 either?

Just wondering.

Yeah, I find that stuff kinda cool. Yes, I'm a nerd that way.

For pi day at school I memorized it to 200 digits. It was pretty damn long already.

How do they know if he's lying or making up the numbers? What if he's just babbling a bunch of numbers and pretending to think about it? Would you actually try to check over 83,000 numbers?

If he was planning to set a world record, you can bet that there were people checking to see if he's right when he was reciting pi.
