Fall Out Boy isn't emo either...Pop punk, they are.

Haha, how come I see william in every emo thread I happen to visit. None of the bands you listed on your poll is "emo"...The only one who really made some sense about emo was Akaryux...

SOTY was the only band I was surprised to see on the poll...I saw them at Warped Tour && I have their cd, they're not anywhere near even today's "we'll call this band emo to get all the teens to listen to them" genre...They're just really loud...

My favorite emo band? Sunny Day Real Estate

Enough w/ these emo threads please, I'm actually having fun typing posts against the whole thing.

I'm not really a huge fan of Sunny Day Real Estate. "Fool in the Photograph" is a good song, but I didn't like a lot of their other stuff. I'd have to say one of the best emo bands is Texas is the Reason. Toadies are also good, although it's arguable they are emo; I guess they're more post-grunge, but grunge (and post-grunge) and emo are pretty similar genres anyway.

because most of them are older, and i used to not be able to stand the modern bands kids were labeling as emo. i still stand by what i said, but at the same time it's embarrassing to look back on those posts because i came off like such a know-it-all ass.

I'm sure you know so much about that particular "label" of music, don't you? I mean, you're thirteen years old, you must have been listening to those bands when they were at their peak, what 4+ years ago, right? hahaha.

bands:
jimmy eat world (clarity, static prevails)
The Promise Ring (!!!!!!)
Elliot
Jawbreaker (!!!!!!!!)
Braid
Hot Water Music
Lifetime (!!!!!!!!) (some)
Evergreen

Some other bands to consider:
Bright Eyes
Cursive
Desperacidos, etcetc.

-> Weezer
-> taking back sunday
-> my chemical romance

normally i'd say weezer is the best emo band. but i have listened to them wayyyy too much and now i ended up hating them. So I'd say tbs... although you do have mcr on the list.. i'd never guess that they were emo.. so whatever.

Whooaa. My Chemical Romance, The Used, SOTY-these are definitely not emo bands.

I dislike most emo music, but there's always exceptions, and Something Corporate is pretty good out of those choices.

I never claimed to know everything about this genre, I don't even think I do. I'm just certain that the bands listed on her poll aren't emo. Sure I wasn't around a reasonable age when it started coming out, but it's the same with the younger generation and 80's rock or Nirvana [I'm not a big fan myself though], nobody has a problem with that though.

I don't intend to to start an argument or anything, I just wanted to answer your statement. sad.gif
