they can do that on xanga.com .... not on xangas... and its not like anyone actually looks at the ads...

you should know how much it costs to keep the servers up and running. especially with the amount of xangans. it doesn't matter if people look at it or not. it's not like they have some laser thing in the computer that detects where your eyes are.

anyhow, amazon and other advertisers pay xanga to put the code on the sites. okay, that's one. second goes up by each hit to a site. third, goes up when people actually click them. that's why currently reading/watching things help xanga by a little.

anyhow, how many is in this forum alone? what.......1000+ members and growing. if most of us hide the ads and sooner amazon sooner or later somehow finds out the ads aren't being displayed as they're supposed to be. well, let's just say you won't want to mess with those big companies's lawyers.

so really, it doesn't hurt to keep the ad on. i've never seen a xanga design that actually deserves that ad off anyway......heh.....
