LotR can't be Christian he said, not moral or right. Morality shouldn't have anything to do with religion, considering religions have different views on what's right and wrong. So.. Morally, anything can be right and anything can be wrong; it just depends on what affects you as an individual. I don't understand why people make this such a big deal when it doesn't directly effect them. If you're reading a Harry Potter book, you're not going to Hell or something, are you? Sorry if this has already been debated against, just wanted to ask a few questions...

When I brought up morality, I was just trying to steer the thread back to what the original poster had said; it wasn't in response to Justin.

And to answer your question, by reading a HP book, no. You're not going to hell.

So what happened in Middle Earth actually happened due to your belief?..Cause uh, I thought by Christian belief, that would be entirely ridiculous.

People could believe the LotR books just as easily as they could Harry Potter. If someone believed LotR actually happened, that would not be Christian, correct?

That's what I meant by it..

Oh, really? I can't seem to recall the last time I spoke with a hobbit. I've spoken with a few wiccans before though. I hardly believe that LotR is as believable as HP is.

And I am still awating your response on your statement, "things that happened before humans were here."

Er, I decided not to respond to that cause I forgot about that and I didn't wanna look stupid...but oh well, I'm stupid.

And, if I remember correctly, they never even mention the word "wicca" in the books....they just have magical powers. Kinda like superheros. Except not. I don't know..

Well, that's true. If they didn't use wands and were in a school for super powers, would it still be wiccanry? Or should we be safe and ban Superman and The Incredible Hulk?

... Harry Potter is just a magical tale. There are other books too that are of the same genre, but they're not blamed. It's just a book. It's fiction.

No. I don't think thats what they meant. It more a base of morals. And LotR does reflect alot of Christian things. The whole book isn't based on Christianity, it's just the good values, morals, and stories that are in the Bible can be paralleled with the Lord of the Rings. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and I personally enjoyed it more then Harry Potter. LotR is much more of an adult book. Harry Potter seems a little childish. It's more on The Hobbit standards. That book is much more childish then the Lord of the Rings series.

Harry Potter is not from satin, however there are references to wicca. I never saw any wicca "forced" on the reader to practice. Some southern baptist pastor might tell you otherwise, but that's probably because they just automatically think it's "evil."

I think the books are a little stupid, but thats just my opinion. Doesn't mean they are terrible.

Yea, and some people in my school actually think they're Hobbits. If kids pretend to do spells, that's not being evil. I did too, it's called playing and having an imagination. What in Lord of the Rings is Christian?! Seriously, my mind is being boggled right now.

AND NO. HARRY POTTER DOES NOT HAVE ANY REFERENCES TO WICCA. I'VE READ THE BOOKS MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE IS NO WICCA ANYTHING IN THE BOOK.

it promotes the reaading of a book other than the bible, and is therefore satanic.

i dont think that wiccans are the same as what harry potter is.

I think they made that up to get rid of Harry Potter, just like Pokemon, Yugioh, DBZ, Ranma 1/2, any anime.

I just don't care what they say anymore, I just rely on my instincts and I'll judge if something is devilish myself. I hate gossip.

The church didn't make up books. I believe there were books before and after the bible. They could've made a DVD bible or something, it's not JK's fault. And besides, every christian being, if he/she reads HP or not, has a bible.

Yoga is now from the devil too you know. Everything's from the devil, even though God is the creator. Why give credits to the devil if God made it. That's devilish to me.

HEY PEOPLE.

No, not all witchcraft is Wiccan. First of all, there's Paganism. Second of all, those are real things and HARRY POTTER IS NOT. It is purely a story. Wiccans and Pagans do not use wands and hide their practices from other human beings and are also considered humans, not separated into "witches and wizards" and "muggles". It's using your imagination.

AND HEY LOOK AT THAT! Gandalf is a wizard. How evil of him. And oh, he's in Lord of the Rings too isn't he..
