For those of you that do have an ipod, does it require your cd-rom drive to work for you to upload songs??

No, you just need a Firewire (IEEE 1394) or USB 2.0 port on your computer.

You will need the CD drive to rip CD's onto your computer, though.

If you want to upload music from your CD onto your ipod you'll need the CD Drive.

you need the cd drive if you want to upload songs from cds that you have onto your computer and then onto your ipod.

but you need a usb port, or firewire.

Well, if you just got ur ipod then you need it to download all the software, and stuff. But you don't need it to put songs on ur ipod. Just a USB cable , that should come with it. UNLESS u are ripping songs from Cd's to your ipod. then you need ur Cd-rom drive. but if you are getting songs from the interent, then you just need a program like limewire, and then you can transfer those to ur itunes, directly to ur ipod. :) It's really easy i tell you :)
