ohh, that sucks _dry.gif they won't pay for us to go to basketball games, but bands are expected for football. once we had a game an hour and a half away, we got lost and got there late and we never even got to march and then we got lost on the way back so it took over 2 hours to get back. we were not amused.

yeah... i'm kinda new to this...

i play tenor saxaphone and it is flippin' sweet!! (im a sophmore this year!! whoo!)

anyway... umm.. I march tenor, in concert i play oboe... i have also tried the clarinet and sorta trombone (lol... trading instruments can be fun!)

any way... for last year's marching show we did The Who, including Baba O'Reily, Behind Blue Eyes (not Limp Bizcut, aka sucky version... the good one!!) and The Real Me/ Quadrophenia... um.. in concert we did Into the storm and a bunch of random ones...

I'd have to say the the best song i ever did was HIGH WATER MARK: THE THIRD DAY... awesomeness!!

so yeah... and at my school we seem to get a lot of crap for being in band.. our football team sucks out loud (www.xanga.com/hanf_is_watching <- the profile picture!) so i think thats a major reason we're so hated... it's like, "ew, band geeks, you're all gay because you don't take naked showers together and loose by 49 points on a weekly basis"

it can be kinda harsh, but we basically stick together.

oh yeah!! we (me and a friend) made an xanga just for our band and good amount of people have been participating... (the link above... "hanf" is our director) i thinks it's not a bad idea, maybe try it?

i hate the clarinet. i can appreciate pretty much every other instrument except the damned piccolo pinch.gif
*

I have to play piccolo for marching season pinch.gif . Not enough flute players =(. I'm going to need a lotttt of breath.

Anyway...I'm back from my trip, so that means...I barely picked up my flute or my piccolo (same thing -_-). I need to practice!!

I go to Sierra Vista High, and we're just a small band...that made finals at BoA (I'll never forget that) and it doesn't matter whether we're good or not, because I love it the way it is. Young (4 years going on 5) with lots of room to learn, and it's actually possible to know everyone's name, though we're getting from about 90 to about 120...so it's a hugeee jump needless to say. Unfortunately, only a few are flute players =/. I can't boss that many freshmen around XD.

I'm a sophomore section leader (wooooo!) along with a senior section leader next year (which is like a month later O_o). I was third chair during concert season and I was third chair in 8th grade too =0. So many darn good flute players, it makes me want to play something else...because it's hard to shine (get it? =P). Oh well! I'm proud and I can say I'm pretty good, especially since I only played for 3 years.

I love BOTH marching and concert season. Marching season is exciting, hardworking, and band members seem to be sooo much closer during this short period of time. There are trips and I don't exactly enjoy football games, but it's another chance to see my friends againn!!! Concert season is more about music and intonation etc., something I love also! And I get to see my two wonderful and great flute players, one in percussion and one in colorguard during marching season.

We're splitting into two bands (finally!!) and I'm definitely going to be in the top band. It's just a matter of being first second flute or second first flute (do you guys get what I mean? O_o). I'm definitely not playing piccolo during concert season, because I like flute music way more, and I can actually sound musical instead of loud -_-.

Anyway...I spend a lot of time in the band room, and it's like I live in it. I am a band geek...(kinda =P) and I'm proud _smile.gif

we only march piccolos, no flutes. theyre just louder, i suppose. last year 3 people broke their piccolos in one day and had to play flutes during a competition. gilbert was not amused. fortunately, we won anyway

well, we had 140 last year and i knew everyone's name, so it's always possible. people don't always know my name, though

but it sounds like band is going well for you, which is cool. i wonder how our drumline and guard are coming along...

oh, i'm always there in the mornings, after school, and at lunch occasioanally, but usually there's a class then. but i go when they're not playing. and i go in during lunch everyday because i leave my lunch in there because my locker is out of the way

We're still small enough to manage having flutes on the field.

What I meant was that pretty much everyone knows everyone, with less of a cliche group. It's easier when it's smaller.

I go to the band room before school and in one lunch, because the other lunch, I only get to see my friend once (and most of my band friends have the other lunch that day -_-). I can't go after school either, to catch the bus, but I would go every chance I get.

throb.gif band camp

such bittersweet feelings. i can't believe i have only one more left.

it was a remarkably dramafree week until last night at the dance. i called it. there were a lot of ups and downs, but last night made it all grand. don't know why; i don't dance of partake in immature drama, but i don't know. but i definitely remember i love band again. there's a lot of problems, and tiresome things, but it's good anyway. i don't know. so many mixed feelings and i'm rambling. so i'll stop. i'd go into specifics, but they wouldn't mean anything to anyone else. but wow. just wow. i don't know what wow is at, but nevermind that
