There is a wonderful type of iced dessert made from fruit juice or puree that is just divine, but the question is: do you pronounce it as "sher-bit" or "sher-bert"?

Usually to me, it's Sher-bert. I don't eat it though so it really doesn't matter how its pronunced (to me).

^nuh uh.

it's sher-bit.

:|

but it's spelled like sherbert...

weird

QUOTE

actually, there 2 different things, (according to dictionary.com) so neither of u r right or wrong for the spelling...

and it depends on what mipadi is talking about with sherbert

sorbet-A frozen dessert similar to a frappé, usually made from fruit juice and having a mushy consistency.

sherbert-A frozen dessert made primarily of fruit juice, sugar, and water, and also containing milk, egg white, or gelatin.

**and i pronounce sher-bert, or sometimes sorbet (sore-bay)(depending on the mood i'm in!)

Sorbet is different. Sorbet contains no milk; it is mostly just frozen fruit puree. Sherbet contains milk and egg whites.

^ Well, even though its the correct spelling, most people here in the US say it as: sher-bert. haha But I guess many people wanna sound aka "cool" like they do with target . they pronouce it as: tar-gay. Hmm weird blink.gif

--Sherbert/sorbet..is really good...especially the orange kind! haha
