Photo Manipulation, flower power! Options

This started as a picture of an orange flower in my mother's garden. It was manipulated with Paint Shop Pro 8. It took about an hour to complete. Thoughts? Comments?

I didn't realize how fast time flies when I'm manipulating photos. I ended up pulling an all nighter to finish this one. It's from my mom's garden, too.

I did them both in Paint Shop Pro 8. The technique is called mirror imaging. The most important thing is to have a good picture to start with. I like images from nature and flowers the most. Lots of color, depth and texture are essential. Then, it's just having fun trying different things. If it makes me smile, think or go "WOW, I did THAT" it's finished.

I posted another one in the digital art contest. I still don't know if that's for real.

..... If it took you an hour, I honestly don't find it all that good. I could probably achive the same thing in a few minutes with one filter. An hour just seems a little long for something like that, it just doesn't have any... Flair or originality.

It wasn't my intent to radically change anything. I think mother nature does a fine job selecting hues, saturation, and clarity. My investment of time is nothing like the time it takes to vexel or 3d model. I enjoy playing with shapes, cropping, rotating and mirroring. That's it. I wasn't suggesting that it's complicated...just fun. It's all about the fun.

By the way, the first image I created with this simple technique was purchased by a tourist from London, England. He absolutely fell in love with the simplicity. He ended up buying 3 giclees on canvas. I made a lot of money from that sale.

Remember Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe negatives? Miro's crayon drawings? An unsigned Picasso on a piece of cardboard recently sold for $45,000.00. Ansel Adams took pictures of landscapes.

All I'm doing is encouraging others to try any technique long enough...who knows, maybe the next Picasso is a member of createblog.

Thanks! I edit everything a couple of times. It's easier than speaking. Are there bandwidth restrictions on attachments? If not, I'll post some more.

This one has an aspect ratio of 1.00 and is 300x300 if anyone wants it for an avatar or whatever.
