Steven's password was a series of nine numbers. It wasn't through brute force that this guy got in.

Just nine numbers? No letters or punctuation? That's the easiest way to brute force a password--a series of numbers is trivial for a computer to brute force!

A good password will consist of mixed-case letters, numbers, punctuation marks, and miscellaneous symbols.

that's what i've been saying. Look, michael77 has been on cb for a while right? and then one of his layouts is suddenly deleted? That's weird.

I definitly think admin (when they get back) needs to check into Misz LiL D. But, was the person on Aim?

there are about 400 million possible combinations for 9 digits... since you cant really brute force IPB, im guessing he cracked my AIM or something.. which would take forever beacause AIM has a 3 second rule... so 400 million combination X 3 seconds = 1.2 billion seconds

unlikely.. and for AIM crackers i think they only make password lists up to 5 or 6 digits and those still take quite a long period of time to do... i doubt there is a list of 9 number combinations

You guys can stop right there.  laugh.gif

You can't brute on invision for one.

Second, this is the most safe & stablist version of IPB.

It was done through AIM her password was "password"

Yes, that is a very common password Sammi, whether you like it or not.

And finally, Bruting goes on through FTP, http methods not IPB.

No exploits or sql injections can be done to IPB.

End of story.  stubborn.gif
*

Brute-forcing can be done against IPB; it's nothing special, it just uses PHP/MySQL, and it is transmitted via HTTP. SQL injections can also be done against IPB, for that matter. It's possible. IPB is quite secure, especially for public forum software built on PHP, and exploits are rare, but they are present.

You don't need a list. A bit of programming is all you'd need:

CODE
for (i = 0; i <= 999999999; i++)  {
    //brute-force code
}

so.

apart from establishing that some peoples' opinions differ on the whole 'innocent until proven guilty' vs 'guilty until proven innocent' (which, btw, would make a lovely debate topic) this has accomplished f**k all

jordan said it. it wil lbe dealt with

cb is not going to die, jusun will sort it out with the help of the admins. speculation gets you nowhere

woot for the triumph of common snese.

hahahahaha. that's clever.

oh, and to start where I left off in my other topic (http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89318 ) mzkandi , whose layout is one of the ones that have the label of "hackerareus" on it, is an official member. So, i don't think that they're just making handles to submit their own layouts and then hack into cb to delete them.

doesn't it go something like its easier to access your account if you've just changed the password, or is that when its a long one. All this stuff is just confusing me out of my mind, and the only thing i know for sure is that changing the password will make things worse.
