[i'm sorry if this has already been a topic, but i'm new so i wouldn't know and also the search engine wouldn't let me search "aim"]

i got an im from a friend that said something like "would you look at this picture and see if it looks good?" so i clicked the link and nothing came up. but now my aim keeps sending random ims to people on my buddy list that say things like "check out this link" and "look at this picture of my new dvd player" and crap like that.

has anyone had this? do you know what it is? and does anyone know how to get rid of it?
until then, i'm just not using aim...

idunnnno. what's the link? does the link give you a file to save? if so, it may be a virus. there has been a virus going around AIM, yahoo, and MSN. ;x there's another topic on this, i believe. search aim+virus and I think you might be able to find it. somebody posted an answer on how to clean it.

Yeah, what she said. I remember my brother telling me that it's a virus. So yeah.

That sounds like a Virius you might want to have that checked out, it sounds like the link had an infection in it with Virius's and when you clicked it, it embedded a Virius in your system.

It's a virus. Try deleting AIM from your computer and then re-install it from the AIM website.

Oh and for future referance, never click links from people unless you ask them what it is... (I once got a virus by clicking a link in my friends away message..)

No need to delete AIM--just following Azarel's recommendation and you'll be fine.
