My friend was telling me that she was going to go backpacking through europe next summer after we graduate. I think that would be soooo awesome! Her family has friends all over Europe so she said that she was just gonna go around to visit her family. She isn't going alone though, she is going with her other friend and I believe her older cousin. She asked me if I wanted to go and it sounds soooooo much fun! I'm pretty sure my dad would let me go because it's an educational experience and would totally support me. He would be worried about my saftey and all but if my friends older cousin is going to be coming with us I'm sure he'd be fine with it. On the other hand is my mom.
My mom is a super overprotective mom. I have to call her basically ever hour to tell her where I am and if I dont she flips out and gets all hysterical. She has this mind set in her head that theres billions of rappers in our neighborhood and they're all out to get me when in reality we live in one of (i believe it was) the top 50 (mightve been 100) saftest cities in the nation. Around here, everyone calls it the bubble because we are sheltered from the outside world basically. There is no way I'm gonna get to go to Europe up against her. ESPECIALLY since all the latest disappearances on the news every ten seconds. Any tips on ways to convince her to let me go would be majorly appreciated!!! Thanks for readin! |

show her you're responsible... maybe bring a laptop along and email her everyday (from the plane or something) to keep her happy? and i think there are these books on how to survive europe (like to avoid pickpockets and stuff

wear your backpack around the house. NONSTOP. and constantly use phrases in french/spanish/other european languages. maybe she'll say yes when she witnesses your determination... or just out of sheer annoyance.
good luck! ![]() |

Write her a letter make it seem very convinicing. Put it on her pillow in her room, so when she comes in she can see it.

Ask your dad to convince her, i'm sure something like that will work out. It may be safe not to reason with her, as things might get ugly when conflict starts flying across the room, get someone older, or even your friend's parents to persuade her and assure her that you will be taken care of safely. That may be the best thing to do, if you wanna go on a trip like this, better keep things calm and slick.

After you graduate, I'm sure you'll be over 18. She can't stop you because your on your own from 18 and on. Maybe you can have her talk to the other peoples parents and get them to try and convience her? Or maybe, you can get your dad to talk to her. Tell her what an educational experience it would be. It's a once and a lifetime thing.. not many people have the chance to do something as fun as that.
