What type of hair do you have?
Straight? Curly? Wavy? 'Fro?
'Cause if it's straight, layered is the most likely way to go. :D

I used to have my hair like that. Not the color, but the style. I think it's cute. Beautyriot.com has a lot of other good ideas, too.

I dunno, your hair looks great right now, but I suggest wavy-looking hair like Jessica Simpson's, she's the one on the right if it's hard to tell:

But for a change..I would suggest hilights! I had the same dilemna you had..so I got hilights and they looked totally different..but it was still cool.
