well then that's their own damn fault. they're 12, they shouldn't be on the site at all anyway. if they wanna go in there, they can go ahead. it's the internet. there's much worse things you can go see if you want to when you're 12.

look. either we need the sex forum, or the mods need to be less stringent in what is considered to be PG-13

if sammis topic had been posted in the boy's locker (i dunno why it would be, possibly to ask a guy, but go with it), 23478 people would have had hysterics, and it would have been closed more or lexss instantly.

sex is a part of life, and people have questions about it. dont punish responsible members by denying them a forum on account of what MIGHT happen. if it goes out of control, it can just as easily be closed

all the speculation about immaturity is just that. why not give it a TRY?

Because CB wasn't made for sex.

QUOTE(william @ Jun 13 2005, 3:27 PM)
that sounds a lot better to me.. "sex" by itself just makes it too... i don't know. inappropiate? not pg13? i still think it's a little too narrow of a topic, but oh well. i don't think i'll be upset if this forum is created now, though i still think an advice abby kind of thread would be better.
*

The whole suggestion from Sex to Sex Education honestly does make a huge difference. Granted, I'm as vulgar as they come, but I'm considerate of those who aren't my age, so I think my whole "big sister" personality jumped in to say no to this, and now I'm all for it.

cb wasn't made for anime or cars or debate or fashion or technology or food or ANYTHING in the community center. your point?

you consider the topic i made in relationships not questionable? okeedokee then..
the forum's title is not going to be "LET'S ALL HAVE SEX! XXX HARDCORE PORN HERE!"

get over it.

my point is that those subforums are inquestionable about their intent...and can be discussed whether you're 13 or 21.

why would i get over it? im against it, and i have every right to defend my opinion on it.

^yeah, but people don't tell elementary schoolers about specifics. dildos, 69, these are things not mentioned to kids

people will still enter out of curiosity. just because someone doesn't find something appropriate doesn't mean that they're not at all interested. for example, people discussing getting stoned pisses me off, but i'll still sit there and listen if it's not completely out of my way to do so. this is basicallly the same. if i cared enough, i would initiate things myslef, but if its on the forum i'm on anyway, why should i not check it out to see what i, in all my pathetic uber-virginity am missing? some of that is more theoretical than fact, but hopefully i got the point across just the same. i don't mean to seem like a prude, but this does not seem like something that will be a positive addition to cb in any way

that's what i was thinking too...there are millions of places where you can talk about sex. this site shouldn't be one of them. it's degrading.

and should be, more to the point. (*edit* - to sammi's post)

people ought to be educated and feel free to ask a source they feel comfortable with for information

cayte, since they started teaching sex ed in fourth grade

Cars forum - targeted to people interested in discussing cars.
Anime forum - targeted to people interested in discussing anime.
Fashion forum - targeted to people interested in discussing clothes, fashion, style
Food forum - targeted to people interested in discussing food, recipies
Sex forum - targeted to people - mature people - interested in discussing anything pertaining to sex.

It's not PG-13. I think we've gotten that across many times already. For mature cBers. I think we can make an exception for this one subforum.

since most people get the talk at school in 5th grade and some get it from their parents earlier? you can be any age to discuss sex if you really want to.

and nicki, you may not think it would be positive, but would it be that negative?

and since when do elementary schoolers frequent this forum?

google is your friend. wrong thread anyways.

i have two questions: 1) would this be a subforum in relationships, or in interests? and 2) how much will be discussed? just intercourse, manual, and oral sex? i mean, masturbation, girl's periods, etc. all are really closely tied to sex so, where would the line be drawn between this forum and the lockers?

i still dont understand why it isnt Pg-13, to be honest.

as sammi and i said, sex talks are genreally given at a much younger age.

so why cant we discuss sex in a comfortable, mature fashion?

why would you want 5th graders to read about people having sex? that wuold just make them want to do it themselves, which is compeltely disgusting and absurd in the first place.

all of these people are like "oh em gee. 13 year olds wearing thongs? having sex? getting pregnant?"

Yeah, a sex forum wouldn't quite help this.

Sex discussions have no rule or law on when it can be discussed.

A parent can tell their kid when he/she is 10, or wait until he/she is 16.

A school will teach their students about puberty when they're in fifth grade (at least this has been the case in Illinois.)

Health will teach students more in depth about sex, stds, drugs, etc usually in the freshman year of highschool.

An individual can hear from friends about sex at any age, or learn on their own at any age.

"Yeah, a sex forum wouldn't quite help this."
You have no proof of what the sex forum would actually do.
Remember that you are not the member's mother. Hell, I'm even realizing what I said was a bit wrong, etc. Realize that you cannot control the members of CB and if someone wants to learn about sex at whatever age they are, let them.

You worry about yourself.

Just because they read about these things doesn't mean they'll want to do it. And if in fact they decide to do it, why not have been educated and informed about it? I sure wish I had taken my health class before i lost my virginity.

probably interests.
and stuff like periods would stay in the lockers. masturbation would go in sex. intercourse and oral and manual would be discussed. however much people want to discuss but there will be a limit. like if someone posts porn, the post will be edited out and the topic closed.

how many 5th graders frequent this site? seriously. they shouldn't be here anyway since you're supposed to be 13. we've been over this.

yes, but strangers on a freakin website should be informing kids about sex? No...

cayte, you seem to be the only person in the world who seems to be presenting the argument that better education wont reduce teen pregnancy, but encourag eit

thats silly.

we got the mechanics of sex in 4th grade, and in more detail in 6th. if the school boards, who specialize in this sort of thing feel that's appropriate, then i dont see why it should be called into question here

educating? you must be kidding. if you read what touchmymonkey said about talking about intercourse, oral, and manual sex...you would be doing everything but that.
