ok well this year in school i havnt done well... im in danger of failing my history class..

there is a BIG chance that i will be going to summer school, or have to repeat. if i have the option of summer school im wondering if i should take it... i only have about 2 months of summer break this year and i dont want to spend my whole summer in school...what i would like to know is how is summer school? ive never been before and i dont know what its like.. how long does it last? how strict are they about attendance and stuff?

It's okay. I have it for 4 1/2 hours every weekday for three weeks. Yours may vary, however. At my boyfriend's school, it's 6 hours for four weeks. It may even depend on the class. One class at my school is 2 hours a day for 6 weeks.
So the time definitely varies from school to school and class to class.

At my school... they're pretty strict. You can only miss two days or so, but when you think about it... three weeks and two days, it's really not a huge deal, but you can't be tardy much either.

Maybe you should call your school just in case to see what it'll be like.

I've taken summer school to prepare for my upcoming math classes so I don't fail in the upcoming year. (My math skills suck).

As for me, attendence was okay, the homework and classwork load is really heavy though, because they're trying to cram a year's worth of info into six weeks.

I haven't had a summer in three years, all of them were occupied for enrichment classes..
They weren't bad, except for the first year.. It really all depends on who your teacher is and how they work their class. Not your WHOLE entire summer is occupied, and it's better than staying at home being really BORED.
Yeah.

I have never had to take summer school because I was in danger of failing. I am taking summer courses now because they deal with my major. They last 6 weeks, not so bad...

I've been to summer school in 6th grade and it sucked. It was a waste of my time. I went there for no reason, my grades were fine and the last mounth in summer school I had to go to Hawaii for about 1 week so i asked my teachers if they can give me hw to do while im there and they say "no". So they just gave me F's pinch.gif

Summer School isnt that bad, i hardly get much homework. if i dont finish classwork, it becomes homework or you get to work on it during class timeon the next day. they usually give me alot of time to finish the assignment.

dam, your teacher is a bitch. You should've ask your friends to get homeworks for you and your friends can make excuses that he didnt receive any assigment or whatever. when i say" friends ", i mean one than one to help you out. o well .. _unsure.gif .. you can do that next time. _smile.gif

I suggest you go to summer school because having to repeat that class another year isn't gonna be such a good idea when you could be taking some other class

I dunno if it's the same but when I went to summer school, I heard that you were only allowed to miss 1 or two classes so I guess the attendance was pretty strict. It was like going to regular school except it ends at 12:00 (or somewhere around there). As for homework, I guess it varies for each course tongue.gif

i took summer school once year to get ahead so it wasn't too bad. attendance was pretty strict, same with tardiness. the length depends on the subject and school, i took math and it was 4 weeks long, 4 days a week for 5 hours. yeah its hard work and there's homework every day, but its not your whole summer at least. plus, its in the morning/early afternoon, so you do have the rest of the day.

I agree with Elba , just one month of summerschool is WAY better then repeating the whole damn year , its logic.

so you'd rather repeat a grade then spend a few hours a day for a short while just because you don't want to waste a SUMMER. you could miss a WHOLE LOT by not going onto another grade level.

i say you go to summerschool no matter how horrible yours may be. it sdhouldnt even be that long of hours or more than 4 or 5 weeks.

I'd rather go to summer school than repeat a whole grade all over again, it seems boring to have different classmates but the same teachers and learn the same things over again. Summer school is definitely a pick if you don't want to repeat.

I went to summer school last year. it was about a month, and it was actually pretty cool. I met a lot of ppl there. I had a D in Algera II, then a B after taking it in summer school.

Well, I think you should take summer school. As what Elba said, it's much better to take summer school, rather than repeating the same subjects that you fail on the next year. Anyway, I haven't been to a summer school yet. mellow.gif I always wander what do people do in school while it's summer. Weird. ermm.gif

you should just take tha summer school

it's gonna be about four hours everyday ..

from like 8am - 12pm .. and then you'll have tha rest of tha day to do whatever you want .. and it's only two months , where as tha normal school year is about .. 7 months ? ..

i think it depends on what grade your in. if your in highschool, no biggie, u can make up the credit as an elective. if thats not an option then summer school would probably be best. or if your school has OSC that would be good to

I'm taking summer school for the first time this year... I'm more excited than "WTF! NOOO."

The summer school I am going to is supposedly not strict at all. We don't even have to get homework.
