A device such as this made an appearance in the 1992 Neal Stephenson novel Snow Crash, to humorous effect. Never expected to see it actually marketed, though.

With all this 'he'll get what's coming to him' going on, has anyone considered that the type of man (honestly, in most bona fide rape cases, if not all, a man is the aggressor) that goes around raping women (which shows a definite lack of 'consider how the other person feels' attitude) probably uses the same type of selfish reasoning in the rest of his daily life and quite possibly has an std. So, when this thing gouges him, he's going to bleed all over the woman. Blood is one of the best, if not THE best substance for passing pathogens, viruses, and bacterias.
Being a woman, I definitely see the allure of the product, but, can I honestly say that one day I am not going to jab myself with it, either a finger or a, well, something more personal  No one is going to rape me without me trying to gouge, jab, stomp, or otherwise mangle him or his tender man parts (sorry you guys who would never dream of doing something so cruel). I think this little device adds more to the equation than I'm willing to deal with. Just mho. |

i think pepper spray works better tho and u can even spay it at anyone u hate but OUCH, that WILL hurt >< |

Aside from the spreading of STDs with blood coming into contact with the vagina, what if an angry/psycho girlfriend uses it? Or what if a young girl thought it would be funny to use it on a guy she's been flirting with?
The idea to protect women is nice, but the the product idea wasn't well-thought out. |
