mad.gif grrr. i got a brand new ipod yesterday, and now it's not uploading music. i read the little 'getting started' thing and it's supposed to upload the music automatically. when i connected my ipod to the computer, it wasn't uploading the music. it just said, "do not disconnect."

i'm guessing it was uploading the music but i don't know. HELP!

You probably didn't establish the usb connection.. But I'm pretty sure that's not the issue, I think it's the Itunes connection problem that I had when I first got my now lost ipod mini.

Heres an easier step,
Return your ipod, and get something else.

Try it on a different computer. You got another computer at home?

OOOH! JC4P KNOWS! if you get the new version of RealPlayer, you can use your iPod on it to put any song you want on it w/ out iTunes!

Way to be constructive, you guys.

Maybe look towards resetting the iPod or restoring it.

To reset it, you go to the main menu of your iPod, then go to Settings, then go to Reset All Settings. That's how you do it on my 3rd generation iPod, anyways. This will change al the settings to the way your iPod was when you bought it. May not do much, but a place to start.

You can restore it by going to the Start Menu (I'm assuming you're on Windows) then go to Ipod, then the Ipod updater. You can restore it and it will wipe everything off it. Many times this fixes problems.

Just trying to be of help to you. You also look at the official iPod support page at http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/. The iPod Lounge at http://www.ipodlounge.com has some forums that offer pretty good help with your iPod.

I recently just got an iPod Mini too! (:

You may have to restore your iPod first and/or register it. There's also a manual way to update songs, somewhere in your file menu I think.

^ Yeah it did that too me too at first. But it was in the morning, and I was late for school, so I just disconnected it, haha. And after school, I connected it, and I had to register my iPod, then it worked after that.

ok...question. are you pushing the import button first? The list of songs that are on your library are the ones that should be going directly onto your ipod, so when you have that list fully organized the way you want then plug in your ipod, and it should automatically load up onto your ipod and a thing on the top of itunes should be telling you how fast and stuff the songs are being uploaded into you ipod. You registered your ipod right? lol, i dunno, mine gave me trouble at first too, you just have to play around with it and itunes together to get it to work. But i fixed mine :)
