Out of all of my friends, I am the one who uses lotion(for your face). I use it once in the morning and once at night (i use Olay). But my friends keep saying that lotion isnt a good thing to use. They say that lotion is like oil, and it makes your skin oily.

So is lotion really bad for you skin or is it good?

sorry about the typo in the title. it should be "your"

i think it can make your face oily, it depends on what brand you use and how your skin is. there are lotions that are oil-free. but yea i use lotion for my face too. i don't think it's suppose to be bad though mellow.gif

I dont think so , um you have to use hydrating lotion , other lotions might irritate you. But if its for the face , it wont harm you.

dont they make special lotions for your face? 0_o i think i've seen them, they're meant to keep your face soft and whatnot buh not oily. i guess it is kind of bad but i only use lotion on my arms and legs and occasionaly i rub down my whole body to keep it nice and soft.. not that you needed to know.

maybe you should just use a little dab ?

well most lotions like scented or those "hydrating" lotions are made up seed oil, corn oil and glycol stearate which can cause clogging of the pours, therefore it is best to use on the body and not the face because the face is the most sensitive of skin. Therefore when choosing lotions for your face try to find some that have antioxidents and that have aloe vera, try to stay away from "natural" products that contain 4% of "natural" extracts because they contain A LOT of clogging factors
basically try to find products that contain Urea,Aloe vera, Amino Acids, and most IMPORTANTLY keratin which im not sure bout this i gotta find out but it triggers the release of melanin by the skin cells.

If you have oily skin, you'll get less wrinkles than those with dry skin.

Regular lotions are bad for your face. However, lotions that are made to use on your face, are actually quite good for you. Just make sure they are oil-free, and believe it or not, they will actually keep your skin from being oily because most facial lotions absorb excess facial oils.

Eh, my health teacher says it's not good to overuse it. Maybe it depends on the different kinds of lotions.

as far as i know when you use lotion on your face you leave in on there for like 2 minutes at most and then wash your face really good to get it all off. =)

yessssss.

It does have certain oils in the lotion.. but they're good for your skin. It doesn't actually make your skin all oily... unless you put the wrong type of lotion on your skin. Your skin needs to oils to keep itself healthy. After all, it's the largest organ in your body!

It's when your skin gets really dry and sorta a light color... sometimes at the knees and elbows your skin can crack depending on the level of dryness.. it's most noticeable on drier skin. it's hard to explain... but yeah

Lotion is supposed to feel a little oily because thats whay moisturized and "hydrates" your face...but if ur really worried then get an oil-free facial moisturizer. That should do the trick :)

it depends if you have sensitive skin (if the lotion has perfume or w.e.). and the oils are what make it moisturizing, but it's the good oils i guess. but you should it off at night so it doesnt clog your pores

lotions are not bad for your skin unless you have sensitive skin that is easily irritated. if you have an oily face i would look for a lotion that is water based. most lotions are lipid based so they absorb into you skin easily. try something water based that is light and won't break out your skin. happy.gif
