i actually meant the stuff he wrote about georgia. its not all the "dirty south." even in south georgia where i have reletives, theres and even lower crime rate. yes, there is crime in the city, and there is gang violence, and at times stupid acts of bored suburban kids, but the way he wrote it wasnt even close to being accurate. i didnt have time to type that up, i was trying to be discreet since it was late at night

I think when people think of New York, they think of New York City as opposed to the state as a whole..the western part (of the state) is pretty safe. I used to visit my grandma every year and I don't remember hearing bad stuff happening.

Richmond, VA has a higher murder rate than New York City. I dont know about overall crime though. It's pretty bad.

Wow ok. Yeah, New York does have a lot of crime, but I wouldn't say that it's got the highest crime rate. In fact, the crime rate has gone down the past year here (NYC)... Sure, there are some dangerous neighborhoods, which are exemplified in the movies, books, etc, but don't all states?

yeah...new york isnt as bad as people make it out to be. i guess people think that because of queens, brooklyn, and harlem ---people sterotype new york as being a crime city. oh well..most of the people that say new york haven't even been there!

based on the statistics given above, new york is #32 while california is #10.

california and new york. because.... i've seen a lot of hobos there than any other states and since california and new york is a high population. well texas too, but i've stayed there for few days so i didnt really see any hobos there. well not because of hobos... but criminals... lots of gangstas i see in new york and california... i remember i saw a mexican gangsta group, asian gangsta group where they drive their own motorcycles... it's wild.

hehe texas is also ALOT bigger than anyother state (except Alaska, but i dunno if that counts :-D) I <3 Texas.I live ne TX and there isnt all that bad, unless u get into some big citys, but thats everywhere, and our citys arent as bad as some others up north. .... I choose Ohio, but i dont kno y, lol.... Tho i think it would be NY city, not the state, cuz upstate NY is actually pretty rural.

And I must agree with Nicki. On basically everything. Georgia is nowhere near the "dirty south".

I lived in what is commonly referred to as the "hood" growing up. I go back to the "hood" every chance I get to see family and friends. (Riverside, Wilmington, Delaware. See: www.delawareonline.com)

My dad has gotten multiple promotions since then and we've moved to upper white middle class neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay area and now San Antonio, Texas.

I see more crime in the burbs. I promise you, it gets ugly.
