i think it really depends

chanel, dior, gucci... you need to be really tall and skinny to be models for those. you can be flat-chested, it doesnt matter. just tall and skinny. it doesn't matter if you're cute looking or if you've got a good smile. i mean, have you seen those people? they probably all have eating disorders... jeez

other than that, you basically gotta be skinny i think... i used to be skinny when i was younger so i modelled. and this makes me sound like i'm really confident with myself (which i'm not) but i don't think i'm the ugliest person every. so therefore, i guess looks count too. yeah, people always told me i had a good smile :]

hmm. in my opinion i guess all they're really looking for is a slim/skinny body. cause yeah like you said there are a lot of ugly models out there.

i know one criteria for 'america's next top model' is that you have to be at least 5"7. but that's for like runway and top stuff. im sure for commercial modeling you just need to be photgenic. you should check it out, phone around :)

I dont agree wuth criteria but this what they like

Skinny
Flat chested
tall (5'8-6'1 usually)
mostly white

As far as looks, they look for a unique look, at least some modeling agenies do. Some of the models, dont look all that pretty, but maybe they have that uniqueness factor going on somewhere.

As far as modeling goes I would like to see more diverse woman,
There are a alot of races that I wont even bother to list that are not represented in high fashion modeling.

I think now people are looking for models who arent the average looking woman....they want different looking women that have a different kind of beautiful to them.

mzkandi is right about models being mostly white, but if you are modeling for an advertisement trying to sell something to black people, then they would want you to be black. If it's something they would sell to asians, they would want you to be asian. It really depends on who they're trying to sell to.

As for haut couture, the main assumption is the it's mostly rich white Americans and Europeans that would buy that stuff, which is why they use mostly white girls.

However, basically anyone could be a model if they had clear skin and weren't overweight. There are agencies and organizations that represent all kinds of women, because all kinds of women buy things. These agencies are just slightly more difficult to find, because there are more looking for skinny, tall white girls.

[x] good runway walk
[x] skinny

i dont' really know if personality matters but i know it definately matters for america's next top model...but that's just ANTM...i'm not sure about the "real" modeling world...cuz i've seen some models that are real beeyotches....(you can just tell)

have u ever watched america's next top model? cause if u did that might help answer ur question. they are looking for someone...how should i say this "different". like she has a unique and different look than most women. but from what i know:

-tall
-good runway walk
-really skinny
-photogenic
-can handle the pressure
-has that model "look" lol

she wasn't that short at all, she was actually nearly 5'7. just short for a model. quite frankly, you know nothing about what you're saying.

i think you need to be striking to look at. and when you walk into a room everyone takes notice. and a i honestly think that medium to long hair is pretty,i don't really like blonde hair, and i have always thought asian models were very pretty too. but that's just me lol.

oh and if you're a guy model you have to have a nice body and a killer rear lol.

when everyone thinks about models they always think.. skinny and tall. but i think there should be other things... like, they shouldnt have to be tall.. as long as they look nice anyway, but of course runway you need to be tall lol.

i model and i noticed that alot of girls arent that pretty, they're just really tall and skinny and hae that "edgy" look even if they arent very pretty. alot of asian models arent pretty because how many asians do model? you know. so when an agent finds an asian model they go crazy even if they're not pretty. but if your a commercial print model then i guess you have to be pretty but you only have to be about 5'7 for that. runway is AT LEAST 5'9. usually prefer 5'11. and also, dont forget the plus sized models. _smile.gif

o yeah..i dont have an eating disorer. stubborn.gif i hate it when people say models are all anorexic and stuff.

and models also have to have a nice personality. if they dont then they wont get any work and agents wont sign em. but i dno why some top models are so bitchy. pinch.gif

Hahaha. I guess I got the wrong information then.
Quite frankly, you're quite snobby.
