have any one here ever been picked on because of where they are from? Have any like people go up to you and do rude things to you just to get attention and walk away laughing; or anything similar? Like has anyone gone up to you and asked you for money or talked to you like they were your "friend" and then just make fun of you and all because of your enthencity (sp?) If anyone did would you stand up for yourself and tell them to back off or otherwise? Or would you just leave them alone and do what they say cause you didnt want to stir up trouble.
My answer would be to do something. If i just let them continue being rude to me they would continue picking on me cause they would think that im afraid of them. Why should i let them think that they are tougher and think they can do whatsoever to me? |

for me; it depends. if they are hispanic and are with a lot of their friends, i would just ignore them. you know; with the hispanics around here; they'll kill you if they wanted to >_> but if they are just a regular person that is trying to look good infront of their friends, and doesnt look like they'll harm anyone; i'll just tell them to back off or just yell weird things.

i didnt mean it that way. i meant it for the people around here. the hispanics around here; they see an asian; they automatically pick on them; all that stuff. that's why i dont really like hispanics around here; but i'm sure that's different in other places.

only stupid people make fun of ppl b/c of their race. just don't deal with them, ignore them. they're really not worth the time, the effort, etc. dumb people never learn.
everyone in the US is an immigrant. It just so happens the Europeans came in the 1600's or something, and Asians started coming in the late 1800s and mostly in the 1900s. Heck, European (white) people are immigrants too. The Native Americans are the least "immigrant" people.... but even they came from parts of Asia ... |

Im hispanic, and yeah ive gotten shit for it. I hate it when teachers assume im stupid, it happens all the time, im a straight A student with honors classes. I used to have this social studies guy and he used to come up to me all the time and same with the other hispanic people asking if we needed help.

Not really by my friends. If they did then I'd stop being friends with them. I wouldn't even think about ignoring it or pretend it didn't happen. It's happened to me before. I've also heard it being said to other people since people don't realize that I'm Indian from looking at me. Some people say that we're always dark (which is definitely not true) and that we smell (not true either). Well, maybe our food smells because of the strong spices but who gives a damn. At least it helps reduce the risk of some diseases. Don't assume that the people who eat it smell as well. They say that we're stupid, well guess what, you're stupid for saying such an idiotic thing.

not really... personally. but other ppl get made fun of cuz they're jewish, mormon, asian (i am, but it's never really happened to me)... whatever. and an insult is like 'so? you're canadian' or something. i mean honestly!
and when they just make fun of a race or country just to be funny (not necessarily to make fun of someone) it's just so annoying...

But I've seen it happen a couple of times, with my other friends...nothing major. I think at my school...most of the people are pretty open-minded. |

And this one desi guy always insults me in Hindi thinking I won't know what he's saying.  grrr.... salae kuthe... (it's the classic hindi swear word. and it's the ONLY hindi word i know.  )

Yeah in my old school, my friend and I were one of the only asians in our grade and yeah people always picked on us and at one point tried to hurt us. But oh wells. We didn't get hurt since they couldn't fight.

no, that didnt really happen to me..
theres a lot of japanese ppl where i live so that doesnt really happen.. well someone once called me a jap and pissed me off, but that person learned not to do that, b/c i happen to really scare a lot of ppl when i get mad...hehe.. |
