urmm, i can say (unfortuantely, from experience) that when i had sex, it left behind a certain smell on me, but i don't think the room smelled "like sex"...you might need to get a different opinion on that one.

"sex" doesnt have a smell. but you can tell if someone did have sex in a room recently by the smell. lol its kinda hard to explain

As above had said, it's not that sex has a smell, but the secretions(sp?) your body releases has a certain odor. However, the odor varies in smell and how strong it is depending on the amount of water present in your body to delute it and the type of foods you eat.
Yes, watching all episodes of Sex and the City does teach quite a bit. They should show it in Sex ed. People would atually pay attention.

it's your/their cum. it has a very distinctive smell. if you're in a badly ventilated room, the smell will stay for a while, and if someone walks in it will be easy to smell, and tell that you either wanked or had sex pretty recently

I don't know this from experience since I'm still a virgin, but, I did read in a magazine that sex can leave an odour from all the body fluids mixed together. Hope that helps..
