im against same-sex marriage...key word there is marriage...i'm happy to have same-sex couples, i'm all for that...but as long as this country has been around, people get married [and statiscally will have kids]...same sex marriages promotes the end of reproduction in society...i'm not saying that all of a sudden there will be no more newborns, but eventually populations will decrease...its just the facts

QUOTE(soccerlover9997 @ May 12 2005, 12:52 AM) im against same-sex marriage...key word there is marriage...i'm happy to have same-sex couples, i'm all for that...but as long as this country has been around, people get married [and statiscally will have kids]...same sex marriages promotes the end of reproduction in society...i'm not saying that all of a sudden there will be no more newborns, but eventually populations will decrease...its just the facts Alright. There are some problems with this. 1) If someone is attracted to someone of the same sex, chances are, they won't really want to have sex with the other sex, and reproduce to make babies. 2) Sexual intercourse with the same sex cannot produce babies. 3) Even if same-sex marriages are continued, point one and point two are not going to change. 4) And unless homosexuals are having a significantly large number of newborns, and because of the facts stated above, the population will not decrease. THEREFORE: BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT. You are the weakest link. Goodbye. |

i'm a supporter.. it's other people's lives.. let them do what they want.. if they love each other and want to get married just let them... who cares if they are both men or both women? shudn't everyone be given a choice of free will? or rather shudn't everyone be given a chance?

Some very interesting points here, and for once I think I agree (more) with ComradeRed.
Marriage is a religious thing. The government should keep it's fat nose, and fingers, out of it. That way, right or wrong, it's between the two people in the arrangement (or three or four or five if that's your belief) and God. If we let the government have control over marriage, the next thing it'll do is tell you you can't feed your kid this or that and take your kids away or you can't live here or there, or have this or that and take away your property. Libertarians unite! |

Gay people are mentally unfit to marry. They can't give consent, therefore any sex they have is rape. Being that it's a relationship founded on common fetish, it can't work. Can a man marry a horse and have maritals? not legally or morally. The horse is an animal and cannot fully comprehend commitment of that magnitude. The horse can however learn reward and consequence. It can also learn loyalty. It cannot be a suitable partner in the sense of being a spouse. A nine year old girl cannot marry a forty year old man. Why? because the girl has not fully developped psychologically. She is still easily influenced and has not yet developped morals or her own opinion. She can't choose whether or not she wants to give herself up or not, when she has no idea what she's giving up. Which is also the reason why nine year old girls are usually sheltered from such attacks on their innocence.
That all fits together. Science could prove this beyond the shadow of a doubt, if it wasn't so controversial. If the big corporations weren't making so much money off of gay people and their supporters. The bible is a guide book to life. There are rules in there for a reason. It says you shouldnt eat blood, blood carries bacteria that can kill you. It says the jews were not to eat pig, they lacked the ability to cure the meat. That's just a few examples. Feel free to bash at my "ignorance". it doesnt matter im done with this topic and that's my final word. |

WHAT THE HELL?!? gay people can't give consent? they can't think for themselves? you compare them to animals? NEWS FLASH! gay people are people too, just like you and me! the bible is NOT a guide to life. i'm living, and i don't follow the bible, and my life is doing pretty damn well without it. as are many other people who don't follow the bible. there's another news flash for ya - following the bible is not the only way to live. your "ignorance" is indeed true ignorance. that post disgusts me. gay people aren't children, nor are they animals. they can think just as well, and in fact, compared to this, better than other people. they are human beings and i, and i'm sure many others, would appreciate it if you would treat humans like so. |

I definitely support gay marriage. I support homosexuality.
I don't see why people think that gay people are unfit to marry. Love is love. Love is blind to race, religion, sexual preference.. I don't understand why people think they need to make another couple's marriage their business. You might say that they're trying to protect their children. Personally, I think the greatest parent would be a person who shows their child all perspectives. They can give their child their own opinion, but not influence theirs; let them decide what they think is right. And I'm sick of hearing, "It's morally wrong." Who are you to judge what's morally right and wrong? Are you pefect? Definitely not. If you are the true religious person that you say you are, then you'll let your god do the judging. And Sikdragon, I think you used a horrible example to defend yourself. A horse and a man are a completely different species. But sure, I don't think it would be right for a nine-year-old girl to marry a forty-year-old man either; he could easily influence her to do things that may not be right. But I think we're talking about a gay couple, where both people have already developed their psychological and emotional capabilites. With that said, I don't see why a grown man couldn't be a compatible and loving partner to another. If we can learn to not be prejudiced against blacks and people of other races and such, maybe we can learn to not be prejudiced against gays. They're humans too. I watched the movie Philadelphia today. "The Constitution does not say, 'Every straight man is created equal.' I believe it says, 'Every man is created equal.'" So let them marry. And if I hear someone say, "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve," one more time, I'm going to kick someone's ass. {I hope I didn't offend anyone here. I have nothing against Christians or anyone else believing in a deity; all I have against them is their handicap in accepting others.} <3 Francesca |

I just wanted to comment on this one part. *sigh*, love is not always blinded to religion. Two people who love each other can be torn apart with differences from their faith. I've seen it before and I've experienced it before. Maybe it isn't true love, but who's to say what true love is? |

^ 'tis true. and frankie, you know an occurence of that as well..where people who seem to be in love don't end up doing so hot because of religion.

Okay, well, let me restate that then.
I think that true love is where two people can work through their differences such as religion and see the bigger picture. Personally, I'd LOVE to be with someone who was completely different than me, but still had respect for what I believed in. I feel that way, I'd get more perspectives, and more out of life. That's how I'd grow. <3 Francesca |

QUOTE(simx @ Apr 23 2005, 11:09 PM) Same sex couples are NO different from heterosexual couples. If you love someone you should be able to marry them. EVERYONE should have the right to marry, not just heterosexual couples. I definitely agree... and for all those that say its against any religious texts... that's for their interpretation... I mean, everybody has a different degree of faith... some don't believe in any religion, and some are extremists... We're all different people, and we go about interepreting things differently. If somebody's gay, and he or she does not believe that it is wrong to be gay, then it is his or her decision, not anybody else's. Others should not impose their ideas and beliefs on another just because they do not agree with them. I don't see how gay marriage should concern anybody else except the two individuals in love. |

Why to oppose gay marriage.
Should a rabbi allow Chris Griffin to get barmitzvah'd just so he can do better in school? It's the same thing. |

likewise, christians do not own marraige. marraige is not a christian idea. sure, you can ban gay christain marriages because of morality. but not state marriages. so don't use religion as a reason, find antoher one.

There you go again spouting off your ignorance of religion. Regardless, my claim was not of religion, but doing something just to reap the benefits without fully understanding what's going on. Chris Griffin is a character on family guy. That episode that was banned from fox entitled, "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein."

I'll just say it again.
100 years ago, homosexual marriages were totally unacceptable. Society has warmed up to them, yadda, yadda... Just how open does society plan on getting? Polygamy? 16 people marry eachother? Inter-species marriages? One guy is hot for his labrador and takes her hand in marriage? Where is the line drawn? I love those banners, too. "Marriage is not about: Race, color, religion, gender, blah...." Somewhere along the line they forgot "species". I'm sure we'll be arguing about that in 50 years. |
