wear a tampon because you're going to have to get out eventually and it will start back up.

i think it might stop in the pool. mine stops in the shower so... but yea when you come out it might start flowing again. ask your mom for help using the tampon. or just follow the instructions really carefully mellow.gif

omg pinch.gif
haven't any of you taken a science course?? your period can't flow in water because the pressure of the water keeps it in! and dewd, there's no gravity in the water, so if you were standing in the pool, it doesn't necessarily have to flow downward... it would just sorta... float inside you, i guess.
whoa, i think i just made a breakthrough... lol, i was just playing around with what i have learned in chem... can't believe it actually makes sense... blink.gif

No, water does not make your period instantly stop..because if you get in iwth some redness following you..that's embarrising..If you plan on getting in the pool...I suggest you read the instructions inside tampon boxes.

It stops flowing but still comes out a little. You should start wearing tampons. They rock.

I was curious about this, so I asked my mom (she is an OBGYN, she would know right?).
It does NOT stop in water. You can tell if you are taking a bath, because their is only a little bit of water, but in a pool it diffuses out into all the water and isn't very apparent.

Uh, no. Tampons are perfectly healthy if you use them correctly. There is a VERY slim chance of TSS, but that is extremely rare.

Wear a tampon you'll be fine.
Take some midol before to avoid any cramps too.

My period started, but there was a pool party, so I thought the water would stop the flow of blood. I was wrong. It was all over my bathing suit and it was disgusting. -____-; Everyone was staring at me. I was a bloody mess. Tampons are there for a reason. And they're mainly there for when you go swimming! Use them when they're needed and don't make the mistake I did. pinch.gif

Acutally, I learned in sex ed when I was in the sixth grade that going in the pool with a tampon is the only way to not get a mess everywhere. Yknow what I mean. If you use pads, it won't stop the flow. It will just get a mess everywhere.

I don't know about your friends, but they might be either lying or have special freaky powers. blink.gif

Hey you all,
It's a late post but I wanted to add a comment. First, I'll be blunt. Don't wear just a pad or nothing at all in the pool. That's just nasty. Be thoughtful, at least. What would you say if somebody was leaking poop "just a little" and wanted to swim in your pool???? You'd want him or her to plug it up before getting in. Sure, a period is totally natural and the blood won't hurt anything but it does NOT stop completely and you cannot control that one embarrassing time when a little extra comes out at once, probably as soon as you stand up after getting out. cry.gif Do you REALLY want to be caught like that? You would be horrified. Wear a tampon and if you don't know how, practice when you're alone and relaxed (and on your period) and you will get the hang of it. The box, at least for me, didn't help as much and I definitely didn't want any "help". You'll know it's done right when you can forget it's there.

See ya!

Just wear a tampon, and be sure to be careful when you get out. Simple as that.
