This isn't the thread for it, dear, go to "moderator performance" thread if you feel the need to make a complaint towards staff.

Did you make sure that you met all the qualifications before posting in there? You'll just get ignored if you don't have all the stuff required. Anyway, post again in the moderator performance thread.

I don't know what everyone else think about credentials, but I would like to read from an author that, at least, can achieve some semblence of control over his/her grammar and/or spelling. I don't like reading a jumble of incoherent sentences and I'm sure others wouldn't either. Creativity, confidence and some eccentricity a plus.

We need a way to "market" our interviews. We need people to actually be excited about interviews and WANT to be interviewed... so on.

How many should be on staff?

I thought we agree on Jusun, aka Micron, first, unless you guys have someone else in mind.

If we all can agree on Jusun, lets brainstorm questions (on our own, i guess)... and pick a time to interview him. The time should suit everyone.

i agree it should be micron first... especially as many people dont actually appear to know who he is, which is worrying.

perhaps we should arrange a time for any people who want to be involved to meet in a chat (or similar).... so far the biggest enthusiasts seem to be me, justin, fae and basick (who for some reason i seem to think is called steve, but im not sure why i think that).

as for staff... well, if us 4 started out, we could se exactly how much work it involves, and expand from there as necessary

Talking about the staff thingy, it shouldn't be like anyother position. I mean, i think it'll be better if the people chosen to be on the staff should remain permanent. It shouldn't be like "people staff, xanga staff...".

I don't know if that made sense. But it'll be better like that...this isn't about closing/opening thread (i think) so i don't think why the first staff chosen shouldn't be the permanent staff.

Oh, this isn't going to be anything official. I think anyone who is interested in being on staff for a certain interview should be able to join.
For example: I may want to interview Jusun, but I may not want to interview (or may not have time to) another person. In that case, someone else should be able to fill in for me.

Anyway, lets get this rolling as soon as possible. We should start setting deadlines. Newspaper people usually work with deadline pressures! ;D

Yes!

Questions shouldn't be too personal. Lets make that a rule. No questions like "what is your address" or "are you still a virgin". Maybe the latter question could be asked with some subtlety, but lets steer away from things that could potentially embarrass our interviewee.

Anyway, yea, lets think of questions now... and someone should let him know we're going to set up an appointment with him for an interview.

Like a secret hideout for interview staff only?.... no. I don't know that kind of power.

I don't know him well at all. happy.gif We've exchanged PMs about... 6-8 times only. 2-5 of them were about getting official member status (a long time ago) and about my voluntary demodding. The others were brief exchanges about how old each of us are and what year in college we're in... etc. I know him not much at all, as you can see.

wow, this hasn't be replied to in a while.

i think we need a bit more of a structure for this newspaper, and it's important to get stuff down like how long you'd like it to be, what subjects it should cover in general (as in world issues, cb issues, interviews and thoughts from the public, the staff, and maybe even a humor section, provided that we can find something to smile at), where this is going to be presented, and when it should be presented.

i'm interested in being part of this. i don't know how qualified i am, since i'm not even an official member, but i'd like to help in any way i can. :)

seeing that i had more than enough time at school today, and also that i was superbly bored, i made a list/outline of what we'd have to consider and act upon.

I. staff
a. amount
1. it depends on the workload. longer paper, larger staff.
2. we can't have too many, because it would get out of hand.
b. qualifications
1. experience/talent
2. responsibility/dedication
II. presentations
a. where?
b. when?
c. sections, subsections, basically the layout of the paper.

hm i had a lot more, but they would come into play much later. i'll probably post them up once we get somewhere.

for staff, how many people do we have so far? it sounds like just basick, fae, and me.. it doesn't seem as if anyone has expressed interest in actually writing the thing.

i don't believe that it should be so much as a "you want to join? okay, you're in." that's kinda what i did.. unless you want to set up applications and such. i've thought out some things that could be on there, but i don't want to actually move and write all that down until i get an okay from you, referring to fae.

once this is a bit more organized, we should move it to a new area where there's more traffic. it would be a good idea to contact the other mods that might not know about this.. after getting organized of course.

Amount: there shouldn't be a limit until it actually becomes a problem. i feel that the more ideas/questions for the interview, the better. As of now, we do not have a problem of having "too many" and the fact that we're not sure how many people it would take to get the thing going really means we shouldn't set a limit to staff just yet.

Qualifications: i said before, and this still applies, that i "would like to read from an author that, at least, can achieve some semblence of control over his/her grammar and/or spelling". And that "creativity, confidence and some eccentricity a plus". An application would be awesome! You can post it here or PM to me.

It will be in the Writing subforum under "creatblog editorials". I know that it's not pinned right now, but if we can get it going, I'll repin it.

The layout of the interview will be simple.

Topic title might be something like "Get to know MICRON, aka Mr. Createblog".
Then we'll list the interviewers for credit and proceed to type question and answer. This format is just like the one used in magazines.
We'll do a small conclusion at the end of the Qs and As.

Before it's posted, one or two people will need to volunteer to be "editor in chief" of that interview. Meaning, the volunteer editor in chief will check for spelling/grammar mistakes before posting it. Maybe we'll take turns doing it.

sounds good! i think we're getting somewhere now.

i could be an editor-in-chief. i don't pay attention during language, but it's not as if i'm going to tell people to stop using passive voice and that they have mismatched pronouns. just that they need to change who to whom and that sort of stuff.

i pm'ed you the application! _smile.gif

i added some bits to the editor position and already posted the application in the lounge. i hope we get a few worth while applications... if not, lets do the interview by ourselves first and maybe that'll draw some interest.
