iPods, putting the record industry away? Options

a few things you forgot from the iriver's specifications (feel free to add things to the ipod list, like calander, etc. )

- 2 inch, 260K color screen.
- picture viewing
- recording from FM
- record from line in
- Video support (with change of firmware that's not exactly supported)
- txt. viewing.

but that involves changeing the frimwear thus voiding your warranty and if you cant get the firmwear to work it could mess up your iriver and not letting you be able to get it back

actually, many users have sent it back with korean firmware, and have had it replaced.

iriver seems to not care.

but that only subtracts video from the list.

the US version still has all of those things there.

after using the color screen, there's no way i'm going back to a monochrome. ever.

in order to not get off topic, let's talk about the ipod:

i don't really like the scroll wheel, nor the monochrome screen, but i like how the ipod photo displays album pictures, and has wicked fast picture loading.

and this is going back to the fact that its your choice to get what you want for your needs... i know i want and mp3 player to play mp3s not video... why would i want to watch video on a 2 inch screen? and we arnt in korea so i think they might check those things before replaceing it. i dont think you should try and change someones mind on what they should get.. like i said its their dissision on what they want to get on choice of mp3 player

well, for the same price as an ipod, i think a color screen w. video ( 2 inch screen is quite good, you'd be suprised at how well it looks -i was.) is good. anyways, i thought i wouldn't use it, but it's quite good for long bus rides.

anyways; if you want to keep talking about iriver h300s i suggest to move to that thread, as this is an ipod thread and we are off topic.

in that case, i'd just buy a psp for cheaper. the iriver has some nice stuff. dont get me wrong, but some things it just doesnt need. if im looking for an all out media player... ill go buy a media player. but for music and only music.. im gonna get myself a mp3 player. both the ipod and iriver h300 can view pictures, which is nice. both i dont really think need it, but with ipod hacks you can use the pictures for different things. such as screen savers, logo's, charging icons, etc. im not sure if the h300 can do that (correct me if it can plz). my goal isnt to bash on the iriver players, or say that ipods are better for that matter. im just trying to get the point across that the ipod is just as good as any other player out. besides creative and iriver, nobody else makes mp3 players as good as the ipod. i remember i had an RCA jukebox (20 gb), and it was pretty good, but it always froze and the lcd screen cracked. i have yet to have anyproblems with my ipod.

if you dont like ipods.... have fun with whatever mp3 player you have. but dont talk down on ipods just becasue u preffer an iriver player (or any other player for that matter)

who are you to say everyone wants an ipod?

sure, the apple care program may give you a free one, but a few things:

is it in 4 weekdays?
do they give you another set of included accesories? (well, it wouldn't be much with an ipod...)
do they give a new one, always, instead of just fixing it?
