TI-83 PLUS and I LOVE it! I would have failed pre-calc without it!

(plus... you can store all kinds of stuff in those things... shifty.gif )

The TI-89 is relaly useful becausee it solves equations for you and you can graph bot y= and x= equations. I still have my TI-83 though... I need a new one. Costco sells them for like 100 dollars... hmm
*

all i have is a ti-83 but i wish i had the ti-89 because it would really be helpful to have x= _dry.gif

The most spiffy part about the 89, I think, is that it derives and integrates stuff for you.

No, but I'm planning on buying one this summer. They're required for geometry.

required for geometry? really huh.gif I never used one...not a real one, I kind of have a half graphing calculator. It dose everything I've needed for Chemistry, it's just half the size. I'll get one next year though >.< alg2

My teacher has an overhead graphing calculator.
When he was showing it to us and how it worked everyone was so amazed. AHHAA.

I needed my graphic calculator all the time for geometry and algebra 2. I have a TI 82 plus, but I only got that so I could be cool like everyone else and put games on there lol. I got mine pretty cheap from home depot.

what i don't get is WHY it's required in HS.. in all my college math classes, calculators are NOT ALLOWED.. u gotta graph everything by hand.. even the 2-D graphs.. for my HARDEST math class, we weren't even allowed a friggin cheat sheet..

but in HS they force u to become so dependent on a calculator that it totally screw people over in college!!

and they only let u use the simple $5 scientific calculators in chem/physics cuz they don't want u to cheat..

i still use my graphing calculator when i'm doing simple calculations cuz i'm used to it.. but still.. i thought public schools were suppose to be free..

i recommend the TI-83 plus because most high schools will teach with and demonstrate using either 83 or 83 plus

its required for my math class.

the TI-83 PLUS is okay. i have it because my parents didn't want to get the more expensive one. its fine, but has much less memory than the TI-84 Plus for if you want to install programs. The TI-84 Plus Silver Edition looks pretty cool too...

An oldie but a goodie: TI 83+, i've had it since freshman year, the later versions are more expensive but i find that a TI 83+ is just fine for algebra, geometry and calc, there's really no need to buy a more expensive one.
