You know those cold sores inside of your mouth, (thanks for helping me remember) is it true that if you mix salt and water together and gargle, it'll help eliminate the blister faster? That's what my grandmother told me.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I didn't know where to put it. Feel free to move it whereever it belongs.

I heard the same thing but about sore gums.
It helps gums swell down.
I think I know what you're talking about.
I think its works.
If it can work for gums, I think it can work for that.
Salt and water is very useful in most cases.

i think that it's cause the salt helps to neutralize the infection or whatever. and yeah, it kinda helps. although i'd rather just use the medicine in the medicine cabinet that reduces the cold sore and also numbs the pain. happy.gif

Whenever I get a sorethroat or some sort of infection with my throat, my mom makes me gargle with salt water. It helps a little.

... mellow.gif Don't you ALL mean canker sore?

Cold sores are a type of herpes and are highly contagious because it's considered as a STD. You should seek a physcian if that is the case. Or for more info, google it.

Canker sores are... ulcers that may or may not go away with the remedy your grandma told you about. It is a widely spread remedy, and I've heard of it before from several people who, like you, mistaken canker sores for cold sores. At least, I sincerely hope you're mistaken.

I'm not exactly sure, but whenever I lose a tooth, my mom has me wash my mouth with salt water. I've never really known the difference, though.

You CANNOT get rid of cold sores, a sexually transmitted disease, with salt water!!!!

I'm running out of breath. Don't say I didn't warn you and don't be surprise that the opposite sex will run the other way when you tell them you have cold sores. *Sigh*.

ACK. That's what I meant.

Damnit. I knew it was called canker sore, and I admit I wasn't thinking when I said that. Sorry. I completely forgot.

tongue.gif At least you got it. I was afraid you guys really meant cold sores... Then I'd suggest you all visit a physician rather than using salt water laugh.gif
