Real goth music....hmmm....I listen to the Sisters of Mercy, Bella Morte, The Cruxshadows, The Smiths, Morrissey, The Cure, Jack Off Jill, Type O Negative, Voltaire, Wolfsheim, Depeche Mode, Covenant of Thorns, Killing Miranda, Halo in Reverse, To/Die/For, The 69 Eyes, Nine Inch Nails, Manson.....I love goth music...I haven't heard much Siouxsie and the Banshees but some of my friends are into them and they have been telling me to check them out forever. I just haven't really heard anything that really grabbed me. The same goes for Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, and some other old school goth bands....

PS- Genre labeling sucks, but eh, it has a purpose.....organisation....

PPS- Goth is an attitude and a style. It also a very broad genre of music. I think that all of the bands I listed above are goth and that their music is goth. You can argue, but I don't really think that anyone on this board was around when goth music was in it's prime and "truest" form. Everything changes over time, esp. music. Synths may have changed the way that modern goth music sounds, but to me, synths or no synths, it's still goth music.

Just from observations over the last year of being a member it seems most the people here are into hip hop and soft types of rock.

Skinny Puppy.

That's as "down to the core" as you can get.

I tried listening to some goth music one time at the AOL Radio thingy. It was alright, I guess, but it isn't really my kind of music.

QUOTE(super_grover08 @ Apr 25 2005, 9:30 PM)
im not into goth, or any rock music for that matter
*

Goth and rock music aren't the same thing. Goth music isn't considered a kind of rock music.

I normally don't stereotype them as "Goth", so yeah. Either Heavy Metal, Industrail Rock, etc etc. -_- other than that, I don't really listen to any (Unless you consider some J-rock as rather goth-esque)

Oh my god. MCR is not goth. I hate people like you. I hope you die. Also, Jordan is going to have a fit when he sees you said that.

1) I don't label myself a goth. I label myself weird. Other people call it goth.
2) I never heard of Goth music. I like the vampiric songs (think Queen of the Damned soundtrack) but I never thought to call that Goth. I never thought of Manson as a branch of Goth either, but I love his music so *shrug*. Beyond that I listen to Metal (er..starting to anyway)

Skinny Puppy is awesome. I'm more of an OhGr fan myself, I didn't put them on my list cuz I consider them to be more industrial than gothic music. Cradle of Filth is good too, also didn't make my list due to my considering them to be more metal than goth. Orgy...don't know why I didn't include them *shrug*. Razed In Black is awesome, there's some vampire club music right there. Apop. is all right, I have heard lots of their stuff but never really got into them.

What about VNV Nation, Nitzer Ebb, Zeromancer, Ministry and Laibach???

I include industrial music into the whole gothic genre. I like OhGr better as well.
I didn't add VNV Nation and Zeromancer because I was trying to keep the list down to a bare minimum. Otherwise, it would be extrememly long.

Okay no, what the fcuk. This just proves my point that the majority of thier fan base (as well as Green Day's) consists of a bunch of teenage girls thinking the band is hot, and only listens to them because of that. You failed to get his name, right too. Poor Mikey. stubborn.gif

Why wouldn't you label music? They're called categories...

I love Jack Off Jill! I've been listening to them for awhile now. Hmm. I suppose I never considered them gothic.
