i think it's all right if it's optional, but definately wrong if its forced.  if it's forced, then the 5th amendment would be violated.

yes, because reciting the plegde really violates your right to a grand jury, against double jeopardy, against self-incrimination, and to due process. biggrin.gif

i believe you mean the 1st.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

"and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation under God, indivisible," some people dont believe in God. it seems that this says that united under God, we will be indivisible.

it should be voluntary to choose to say it, put your hand over your heart and stand up.

God was the basis and the founding of our country, we should most definetly keep it in the schools.

don't just say that. prove that.

anyways: 'under god' was added because it was believed communists wouldn't say that. it has nothing to do with religion.

Wrong.

http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...hl=pledge+under

*sigh* here is something else I said about the matter in another thread:

"There is no doubt in my mind that religious belief played a major part in the history and founding of America. But why did people come to the Americas to practice religion? Would you agree with me if I say that it was because they have more spiritual freedom?

Christianity was the smaller picture. Religious freedom was, and still is, the bigger picture. Christianity was simply the faith of those who wished for religious freedom in America. They believed in Christianity but they SOUGHT FREEDOM of RELIGIOUS PRACTICE.

So to respond to your comment, the historical impact is not Christianity, it is the finding of religious freedom. Thus, our First Amendment does NOT say that we have freedom to practice Christianity, it says we simply have religious freedom."

So you see, even though God inspired the search for freedom, those who sought freedom clearly believed in freedom of religious practice not just the freedom to serve God...

At my school, the pledge comes on the broadcasted morning announcements during 2nd period which the majority of teachers don't care to watch. So, I don't say it. I haven't said the pledge in nearly a year. While it is being said, I respect my country and put my right hand over my heart and honor waht is being said, despite the bs and the politics.

But, for the sake of debate, I'm going to be an ass and piss people off so this doesn't become one sided....

Citing the pledge everyday just adds to the monotony of school. Are we going to cite the pledge as college sutdents and as a dults day after day? Of course not. Ok, so maybe we should learn and understand the pledge and its significance, but, I don't believe in saying it and I don't believe in being forced to say it.

everyone should have the right to say the pledge if they want to or not.
at times many would think that the pledge of allegince might go against someones clture because at soem schools many are forced to say it
