I agree with Arimalka. It is really annoying when people judge you by your age.

The world has changed.... Our world use to actaully have morals! Now that the media says it's okay to start dating at such a young age, cuss, etc, kids just follow in other people's, especially the rich and famous' footsteps.

QUOTE(Arimalka @ Apr 26 2005, 5:08 PM)
I hate this. I really do. I hate being stereotyped because of my age, and I'm sure a lot of other people do, too. The fact is that you, who is supposedly "older and wiser", was once twelve and thirteen. You should know how it feels, especially in today's world. It's an age where kids feel pressured to "grow up" as fast as possible, though they don't really understand what that entails. Acting "mature" isn't about having a "boyfriend/girlfriend" or cursing at least twice in every sentence. It's about making the right choices in life and molding your true character. Most "tweens" haven't yet realized this, though, but they'll pull through well enough. And it's the guidance of older teens and parents that will help them get through this awkward time, not stereotypical criticism.

Arimalka

I agree, I also hate to be stereotyped because of my age and I hate to see that happen.
I only pointed out the situations I saw with young kids acting wacky through the growing up stages and yeah it’s annoying but I suppose it’s just part of life and growing up, mistakes do help us learn after all. I just think it’s harder on kids theses days, I’m not exactly sure of the cause, though I believe parents have something to do with it. I’m seeing too many parents, not caring and not guiding their child through their youth's hard ache and moreover not watching (keeping track of) them like they should be. But what can you do? ><;

Thank you. I'm 14, but honestly I think I act 18. People actually thought I was 18 for a while, untill I told them my age. I have a tendancy of making friends with people older than me, so I wouldn't have many friends if people judged me by age.

Also, Rache is 4 years older than me, but I'm still running away with her. Mmyep. biggrin.gif

we go through the whole sex, drugs, and stuff too you know
i mean im 13, i kno friends who've been raped (her dad) and i kno some of my friends hav a drinking/smoking problem...
sure, we dont have to worry about college and all, but our parents (well mine) pressure us to do well in skool! middle schools are even teaching high school courses (in my area anyways..) which puts more pressure on middle schoolers about college and grad.....and we've had sex ed since 4th/5th grade, wut do you expect?

This is an interesting topic. It seems more like a complaining topic than a topic that people would actually respond to, but appearantly people have so I might as well too. I'm 12 years old, but sometimes I forget I am because people are so different in my grade. A lot of people tell me I act weird (and they think I got held back) because I care about my schoolwork, getting an education, doing something productive instead of chasing after boys. Okay, sometimes I cuss, but it's not because I'm trying to be cool. Sometimes you can't help it when the rest of the world does it! And I hang out with more people in 8th grade and above than people in 6th grade. It's easy to get influenced.
About people dating at 12 and under... Ugh, mostly I think it's a stupid concept. Most 12-year olds (not meaning to stereotype) don't know crap about love. It's not because they're 12, simply. It's because they aren't experienced and just like the idea of having a boyfriend to "fit in". The sad thing is, they can't stay together for more than a week because they're not wise enough to judge by what's inside and not outside.

I think they're just influenced by older people (that they see on TV, see at school) and want to be like them by having boyfriends and cussing and whatever. People by nature want to feel like they fit in.

Your sounding kind of immature and close-minded right now. You`re not special just because you`re older. I mean, its always fun to make fun of them and all but you`re being kind of rude.

I don't think you should judge EVERY little kid. I mean, what about those child prodigies (sp?) I get what you're trying to say. I look at these 6th grader profiles and it's all "I LOVE YOU!!!" To me, I don't think love is when you just go out with someone, it's when you feel it. And yes, a lot of those little kids go around screaming "f**k YOU!!" and use f**k in at least one of their sentences. I don't like it. But I guess you can't really blame them, sometimes it's just how they're raised. And I also see these 6th grade girls at a school dance and they have black leather skirts and high leather boots. And it was in the middle of January! ugh. but like i said, not everyone is like that.

Yes, I think it's quite ridiculous myself. There's this 11 or 12 year old in my school who tries to "be cool" by cussing and trying to say all these "smart" things. However, the things he does and say are downright rude. He told my friend today, "You had to screw your dad 'cuz you're too poor". Wtf? That makes no sense and is completely rude. Okay, I'm done ranting.

well, they see it on TV and in magazines and in their favorite radio songs. there aren't many role-model celebrities out there. kids think that they'll be "respected" if they act this way, and often, it's true. with all the bullying in elementary and middle schools, kids wants to toughen up and make sure that they aren't the ones getting pushed around. they see their friends acting this way, too, and they want to fit in, naturally.

My Gosh, this is probably the biggest problem in my middle school. I mean, there are little 7th graders on my bus whome have had blowjobs already, and it's just... I mean... at such a young age! Also, I see 6th graders trying to pick fights with 8th graders once in a while. Though the thought is funny (Imagining a 4'0" kid trying to beat up a 5'10" person is somewhat funny for me), it's kinda stupid. In 6th grade, there was this one girl who already had relations with 10th graders... so yeah...

I hate those 12 year olds who go around cursing. They call me nigga and stuff EVEN though I am white.

And then they all go off saying," OH MY f**king GOD! I LOVE YOU, BILLY BOB!"

and then they break up.

Sad, isn't it?

Yupp.

When I see 6th graders walking around and cussing I tell them "Hey. You shouldn't be talking like that young man/lady! Your too young for that!" They just stare at me. But it does bug me.

Yeah, I think they're bluffing as well, but it's kinda believable when you're surrounded by kids groping each other on the bus....

I'm 13 myself, and it really bugs me when people try to act all grown up. T_T I even have my friend that has given this kid a hand job! And as for the cussing, whenever I do it, I don't do it to seem more mature or anything. Somehow, it has gotten stuck to me and whenever I curse now, I don't even notice it. It just irks me whenever I see someone around my age saying 'I love Bob!'.

Yep...I see people my age saying that they did an 8th grader or something. And during lunch you hear them cussing and whatnot. God, theres this girl, shes in 6th grade and you can find her kissing an 8th grader behind the portables. Psht. At my school everythings about boyfriends and girl friends now. And yeah they teach sex ed in 4th grade now, but maybe thats a good thing because some people out there are getting banged at a real young age o_O

if you think that's scary you should see kids around 6-10 observe the way they dress: gangster style, and cussing and cursing is already in their vocabulary. also they learn to play handball/basketball now.
