notice how they say sharing music is illegal, not taking music.

of course, copyright law may have changed a bit to cover downloading (unlikely), but the RIAA is still only going after massive uploaders.

now, the MPAA goes after anyone who downloads or uploads a movie. be it one or be it a hundred downloads.

Winamp isn't anything like Limewire
Limewire is a file sharing program. Winamp is just a media player. Huge difference.

Yes, record companies can sue programs/websites like that, because music file sharing is illegal.

no, these sites cannot be shut down.

in the user agrement, you agree not to share any copyrighted material.

therefore; all those sites are legit. the users are not.

Um remember Metallica?, Now you have to pay for napster

Yes its illegal to allow others to upload, but if you don't use your files for personal use or as a back up its illegal, like if you burn and distribute Cd's, your not allowed to profit off of someone else's copyright, but you can download things you already have an actual copy of.

No limewire CANNOT be shut down by anyone...they do not have huge servers with everything on it OTHER people have the music, games, porn ETC. Anyway the most anyone can do to stop limewire is to say..."Okay you can't have music, games, illegal porn...ETC." because Limewire doesn't just have illegal files.
