QUOTE(bandgeek05 @ Apr 23 2005, 10:30 PM)
I knew her. She was my best friend for an upwards of ten years. We grew apart in the last year, sadly. We had some difficulties that never were resolved; I kick myself every time I think about it.

Her funeral was today. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with loving memories of Kelley Halpern and her family. Her brother sang with the Berkmar choir. It was so beautiful.

I miss her. I really do. I had always heard of people regretting never having resolved a friendship after a loved one passes on; I just never thought I'd be the one doing the regretting.

But, I need to make one thing clear.

She was not alive when the police came. The autopsy proved that she died on impact. She was not killed by the flames. Her parents specified that at the funeral

Whoa, you go to Berkmar?!

But wow. I'm very, very sorry for your loss. Wow. I really wish I knew what to say. I wish I'd gotten to know her better, obviously she was very loved.

I wish I could've made it to the funeral.

It's horrible. This is making me cry all over again.

wtf winter nights? you're an a-hole, and im not kidding. if you want to be an ass, be an ass somewhere else, okay? It's not even this. No one can stand your ass in the chat either. You have to cause drama with everything?

But Rest In Piece. I am truly sorry to hear what happened.

I actually don't go to Berkmar. I'm in the Parkview area, but I go to a small private school in Buford (not two minutes from the scene of Kelley's wreck). I went to church with Kelley and her family. I, in fact, just got back from church. Her family was there today. Amazing. They hadn't gone to church in about a year, and they came to today's morning service. It was very moving to have them there.

Here, I'll give the obituary address from the Atlanta Journal Constitution's website: http://www.legacy.com/atlanta/LegacySubPag...ersonID=3450346

She was very loved. I'm acutally kind of surprised to have found a thread about this. I was searching google for some more insight on the legal proceedings about the wreck and stumbled on this thread. It's very nice to know that she was loved by so many people and that condolences are sent to her.

You can actually make a donation to The Kelley A. Halpern Memorial Fund, c/o Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene, 701 Cole Drive, Lilburn, GA 30047. That's my church, by the way. The fund is going towards purchasing lots and lots of books. Kelley loved to read and loved to discuss her opinions on the books she read.

Take a look at her obituary.

Wow, that's amazing. I'm happy that her family went to the service. I hope they continue to go, it might be good for them.

Again, I'm very sorry. I wish I could help. I'd love to donate to the fund, I'll definitely make a note of it. I'll be sure to pass it on to some of my friends from school as well.
