QUOTE(Nicole0402 @ Apr 19 2005, 2:37 PM)
well cd players, cell phones. etc. are allowed, but not in class. The dumbest rule is.....no chewing gum....i mean come on!!! it's not a big deal
*

maybe it was a big deal when they allowed gum in school. ohmy.gif
i remember my teacher talking about how our school used to allow gum when it first opened, but when people started putting gum everywhere, it became a big deal and they stopped allowing gum in school.

i don't consider it a dumb rule unless you chew gum a lot. Our school would have MORE GUM EVERYWHERE than it is now if they re-allowed gum.

those who think the whole no gum rule is a dumb rule, look up your school history and see if there was a time when gum was allowed. gum wouldn't be allowed if people kept putting gum all over the place.

QUOTE
-No Yu-Gi-Oh/Whatever Cards

is your school religious? cuz yu-gi-oh cards are sin cards according to some christians.

we have a solution for those people at our school.

let's just say it involves plastic clip ties and belt loops.

No devil worship, no wearing a hat on a sunday (we go monday to friday), and when your made a head prefect, you're elligible to own a goat, grow sideburns, and smoke a pipe (most of them are girls now).
Those rules were all made 450 years ago when the school was founded, so no, really no joke.
/edit/ catholics may be punished more harshly than anglicans, you have to stand up when the teacher enters the room, oh and apparently ANY contact under 6 inches between a boy and a girl may get you suspended.

I'm in college so at my school we really dont have any dumb rules, we have a bunch of freedom..I guess what alot students at my school see as a dumb rule is that you are not allowed to have pets in the dorms. only fish. which sucks for a lot animals lovers like me who stay on campus but had to leave their pet back home because they cant stay with us

- No gum. Like I actually listen to that one. rolleyes.gif
- No piercings other than ears.
- ...My friend was suspended for having red shoelaces. mellow.gif
- No skirts above the knees. I still do it anyway.
- No fishnet stockings.
- If any part of your shoulders are showing, you have to change.
- You have to call home if even a centimeter of your stomach is showing.

My school is messed up.

^shoelaces? pssh...

well.. thats my latest rebellion. the uniform code states that black dress shoes must be worn.

however, it DOES NOT mention SHOE LACES. so mine are white. and my english teacher told me to change them, and i wouldnt, so we argued, he called me a wise-ass, but couldnt do anything about it. im not breaking any rules.

i love loopholes

In the sixth form we are allowed according to the original rules hair no exceding the length of the longest hair of any teacher. This was written when women weren't around; and so about 6 of my friends (not me any more it got really annoying) have really long hair at a posh grammar school. Ha ha Tom Brown with dreadlocks, hmmm...

oh next year at wilson (where i am now, but i'm graduating) everybody has to tuck their shirts in. i think it's because the shirts were too short on the girls and they wanted to make sure that they didn't "gap," as the teachers referred to it.

lol When i used to go to a private school the dumbest rule to me was that you always had to have ur shirts tucked in. And no "blousing" it out or nething from your pants, they have to be TUCKED in. man, i hated that rule lol. And if they caught you more then 3 times with your shirt untucked, then you got a detention. lol so stupid.

since i go to a private catholic school.. we a lot of stupid rules. and i mean a lot

heres a couple off the top of my head:
- the boys hair can't be touching their collar (can't be long)
- uniform skirt has to be 1 inch above the knee (everyone breaks it)
- no makeup, jewelry (except a religious cross), or nailpolish
- nothing around your wrist (even livestrong bracelets when their for a good cause!
- no flipflops or pajama pants on dress down days
- no electronics (cell phones, walkmans, iPods, etc...)

crazy.gif you would think they would cut back on the rules!?
