i wouldnt have said "promise" in the first place. but if you have one of those strict mothers, then yeah i would say it. but your mom needs to understand that youre a teenager and you need to have a little fun too. im sure your mom's been there before. having a boyfriend and whatnot. just tell her that you have one. if she makes a big deal out of it, too bad. she has to accept whether she wants too or not. your mom cant make decisions for you anymore. its your life.

i agree with mskandi, i mean yes i know what youre going through, because i also have asian parents but they are not as strict as some are still; just tell her because if she finds out in another way other than urself..it'll be worse..trust me ive been there; just say say ure sorry that u promise, and that u only said because you knew it would hurt her and say that u promise to keep up grades and everything.

i would go to her and explain to her that yeah you made a promise..but you have feelings for this guy..you arent in love with the guy and you arent planning on marrying him 2maro or anything..but you like him and he likes you and explain to her that he wants to//will meet the family and all that stuff..i did that with my mom and shes more in love with my bf now than i am haha

lol, don't feel weird, I did that with my mom, I'm still going out with him, but they didn't meet until he and I were togethe rfor like, three months, lol I felt bad at first, but then again my mom and I dont' have that great of a relationship, she keeps a lot of shizz from me, so yeah... I had my own reasons for not telling her, but when I promised, I crossed my fingers, lol =P

1. you should not have promised something like that (you dont know what is gunna happen in the future) and 2. i think you should tell her.....i tell my mom everything and we totally understand each other...trust me once it's off your chest you will feel a lot better....

I'd definentely tell her the truth. She'll understand, more then likely. And if she doesn't, stand up for yourself. Being "smart" and talking back isn't always bad to your parents, as long as you usually respect them. Heck, I do it to my parents all the time...they don't care. Then again the are pretty immature.
