I personally hate every member of that band, I think there music is trash, and should never have been recorded. The pathetic yelling, and poor atempt at singing while mixed with poor guitar and somewhat decent druming create this poor band.

I just like the songs for what they are, not because of who "sings" it, or because of who plays guitar..

I didn't say i cared who sang it or who played it, i said that the guitar and vocals sucked. The druming is the only thing that you could possibly mention about that band, honestly i think they targeted 12 year old audiences.

^^ That wasn't a reply to you, it was towards the person before you. As you can see, she said too much screaming. 'Tis why I said:

Oh, sorry for the mis-understanding, slipknot is allright if you like that genre. I still wouldn't go to a show or listen to them. I mean damn, they have like what 4 members that actually do something and 5 who just take up space.

They all do something, whether it's more 'behind-the-scenes-' than the rest, they all do a hell of a lot of work for the band.

It annoys me when people say they're afraid of them. They're not scary and all of the people I know who have met them have said they're nice people and I'm sure that's a lot more than you can say about meeting Britney Spears.

I like their music personally, espically eyeless whistling.gif crazy...... Their self titled album is my favorite, and they just had the subliminal versus extended version come out a few days ago.

Slipknot is a f*ing great band. That's my opinion. I've seen 'em live twice and both times, they kicked major ass. I like all three albums, but the first two get more play in my stereo because I'm not really into "melodic" Slipknot. I understand why they went to a more melodic sound though. It's cuz of Cory's voice going out. Seriously, he can't really scream any more cuz his vocal chords are all worn out. Any haters out there, go right ahead and hate them, hating them won't make them go away. Slipknot has outlasted most of their peers from the nu-metal scene.

I'm not a big fan of slipknot and really, their music isn't very talented. I mean, sure, they might be talented individually, but their songs do not impress me one bit.

If I hear one more person say "Joey Jordison is the best drummer ever!!!" I'm going to rip their head off. Any 60 year old jazz drummer could own him with one arm. He has speed, but he's not very technical. At least not in Slipknot. Sure, to an extent he is, but compared to other unknown jazz and jam band drummers, he's nothing...and I never hear anyone talking about those guys...

I've noticed that alot of fans say shit like "Did you see their new masks?!"

Who cares? Do you want me to put on a mask? Because I'd be glad to.

Lizardman (artist who designed) is not in slipknot. I can wear a damn mask if someone made it for me.

They use alot of the same song structure, and it's very hard to tell their songs apart if you're not an obsessed fan. Personally, I just don't like their music, and I think Corey is full of himself.

And don't even tell me that they didn't "sell-out"...if they already haden't. They have custom shoes. F---ing shoes.

The new album really IS just an old album toned down a bit. And for alot of their songs, you dont really need two guitars to play it....I've looked at the sheet music.

I know it's not the case at all, but it's funny to think about Corey saying:

"Hey guys. I can scream. Does anyone know how to play guitar?"

"Sure I do."

"I do too!"

"Well, I really only need one, but hey, the more the marrier!"

"I can drum."

"Yeah me too."

"Ok then! Both of you hop on up here!"

LOCAL MUSICIAN (COREY TAYLOR) LOOKING TO START A BAND
MUST BE WILLING TO LOOK SCARY
MUST HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE BANGING OIL RIGS
DO YOU HAVE A FRIEND WHO PLAYS TOO? BRING THEM ALONG AS WELL!I'M SURE WE CAN FIND A PLACE FOR THEM SOMEWHERE!

I'm not being serious...I just think it's funny to think about.

Firstly, I realize Joey gets a lot of giggly fan girls. Yeah, I admit I like him a lot, but it's not because of his looks and solely because of his drumming. He isn't the best drummer out there. I think he has a fair amount of talent, but he's not the best out there. He gets more credit than anyone else in the band because of his looks. So to an extent, I agree with the first statement of yours that I quoted.

Secondly, is it Slipknot's fault that their fans like to talk about their masks? It's an obvious trait of theirs, so why not discuss it? I don't see any harm in that, and I don't see how it could get annoying. It's not like there are group discussions on Slipknot and their masks around any given town.

Thirdly, their songs vary a lot more than people tend to think. I don't know, maybe my opinion is different because I have most of their songs memorized, but still....Their songs vary a lot, whether you care to realize it or not. Their radio songs all sound pretty similar, I do admit though. Oh, and Corey is not full of himself. They're very humble beings, considering their success.

Fourthly, I'm so f*cking sick of people spazzing out that they sold out. Do you seriously think that the members of Slipknot actually have control over their merchandise? They have a very limited say in it. Once Roadrunner gets legal rights to their name, they can plaster it all over anything and everything. Slipknot is all about the music. They don't have much of a say in the merchandise, so don't give me that bullshit that they sold out. Merchandise shouldn't even play a part in this. They're about the music. They always have been, and as far as I'm concerned, they most likely always will be. They don't come up with the merchandise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to preach to you and try and make you change your mind, because that's not my point and that's not my goal. I'm just defending them because they happen to be my favorite band and I hear this all the time. Just stating my opinions.

I've met Cory Taylor in Iowa with my friend Dave. Dave knows him very well for being a fan. Cory was a d**k to me. Not saying he's always like that, but he was a huge d**k when I met him...And two of the other members (Cant remember which ones) wouldnt even talk to us.

The thing that makes me mad, is that most (MOST) fans care more about slipknots image, rather than the music. I know this.

Well, I can't say anything in Corey's defense, seeing that I have never met him, but it's too bad he wasn't friendly. I personally have heard nothing but great things about them and their personalities, so I really don't know what else to say in their defense.

Yes. I agree with your last statement. It pisses me off that a lot of Slipknot fans basically only care about how Slipknot looks. Most Slipknot fans piss me off. Most of them are little 10 year-olds, running around, yelling about how they're the best maggots going and that "Duality" is such a kickass new song. Well, shoot me if I'm wrong, but "Duality" was one of the first singles off the album, it may have even been the first, I'm not sure, seeing that I never listen to the radio. I realize Slipknot isn't anywhere close to being unknown or underground, but a lot of their fans basically only like their newer singles. The only songs of theirs that have been played on the radio are the singles off Vol. 3 and "Wait and Bleed" off their self-titled album.

Anyway, I've said more than I need to. I do agree with your last statement about most fans of Slipknot. Most piss me off....But in the band's defense, they can't really do anything about how their fans choose to act.

Just thinking about this thread brings back memories.... the little 12 year old me looking at avatars on the internet and there it was... An icon flashing the lyrics to Surfacing. It was love at first site... Then it took me 3 years to actually figure out where the lyrics were from and listen to the band. *sigh* happy.gif

Haha. I've seen that avatar before. :P

"Wait and Bleed" got me hooked.
This was in 1999, shortly after their self-titled album was released. I guess I've been a fan for six years or so.
I was at Best Buy with my dad, I saw them on the advertising TVs, heard the chorus to "Wait and Bleed" and I was hooked on that song at that point. If I recall correctly, I was about 8 at the time. I then proceeded to find out their name. After finding out their name, I raced to the CDs and bought their self-titled. Of course, my dad didn't approve, but I still bought it.

Then 2001 rolled around and Iowa came out. I got it the first day it was released here. I was so hooked on that album. I listened to it for six months straight, literally. I didn't have any other CD in my players for six months. That album never got old, and it still hasn't. It just amazed me. I don't care if anyone out there thinks that Iowa is just "noise." To me, it is brilliant. It really is. There's just something about it that really got me hooked.

I haven't been obsessed with them until about this time of last year...Right before Vol. 3 came out. Oh, man. I was so excited to get Vol. 3. I got it a few days after it came out. I would've gotten it the day it came out, but my damn parents wouldn't let me go to Best Buy, and meh. Yeah. So when 2004 rolled around, I was absolutely HOOKED on them. I bought Vol. 3 and was amazed, but at the same time, very surprised. It didn't sound like them, but all the same, it is a wonderful album.

Anyway, yeah. I wish I had liked them during the MFKR days, but I hadn't heard of them then, and I was quite young at the time.

I remember the first time I heard "Wait and Bleed" like it was literally yesterday.

They're old stuff was good, Brie, I agree, "wait and bleed" is so awesome.

But their new stuff is..dissappointing. Maybe i think that because my musical taste has changed a bit tho..

SHIT, really?
*envies you*
I saw them in late April and was about 100 feet away.
It was so awesome...

Oh, I'm sure they'll come to New Zealand when they go touring and such again...I've heard that they always get a great response there.
